I need a new tensioner and have been searching around for information. There seems to be some confusion as to wether or not the new tensioner will work with the old guide. Some people say yes others say no. I was told by a person in the parts department at one of the local dealers that if the car was made before January of 1996 it has the old style tensioner and guide. If the car was made after this date, the car has the new style tensioner and guide. My car was made in April of 1996, so he said I will be ok with just changing out the tensioner. I want to make sure if what he is telling me is correct. I am hoping someone could shed some light on this.
