Def. a lot of threads about this. I think ppl recomend having an actual spring compressor to remove and add springs. It's a dangerous job but can be done. I'd say the spring compressor is the nec. equipment required.

I just did this last weekend. Piece of cake, although it did take me about 5 hours. Next time I could probably do it in about 2 hours.

Air tools will speed the process up considerably and I can't even imagine trying to do it without them. It would take forever to get the springs compressed. But you can do it without them.

Here's what I used...

Jack and jack stands
Impact wrench (or breaker bar)
Socket set
Spring compressers (rented from autozone, can buy from Harbor freight for like $10)
Vise grips (can't remember what for but I did use them.)
Probably a few other little tools but no "special" tools.

Good luck, it's not that hard, just be carefull with the springs, and get the alignment done shortly afterwards.

breaker bar (for the front the bigger the better)
17/19mm deep sockets for lower mounting bolts
14/15mm deep sockets for upper mounting bolts
14 ratcheting wrench (or reg) and vice grips for the top hat nut.
spring compressor
WD/40, Music, Beer.

Try and find (if not print out) diagrams on how everything comes apart to reference while you are in the process.

Mmmmm, beer.

The install isn't that difficult, especially after doing some research. But the spring compressor is a must, otherwise it's pretty dangerous.
