Car starts really hard..

what's up guys.. just swapped my tranny from an auto to a 5spd.. now the car starts really hard.. any ideas as to what may be causing this?

I have a 98 SE...i swapped in the 01 tranny with lsd.. I thought it was the crank sensor but I swapped that in and it wasn't that.. I'm using the auto ECU right now although I do have a manual ECU but i dont think it's the ECU?

what else could it be?

thanks in advance

alright here's an update...ran the grounds to the starter + transmission bolts... car starts a lot better.. however.. still struggles a little (not as bad as before).

anything else that could cause this after a 5spd swap?

another update...the grounds worked! I guess it needed a couple more starts to burn off any excess fuel in the plugs or something but now the car starts up fine.

thanks crazy97 for your post.. it helped!

Great to hear! But, don't delete this thread. People need to see this, this problem is getting to be very common. Give it time and the 5th genners will be posting problems like this, one already has.

LOL! Been there, done that. It's too bad Crazy's thread showed up 2 years after my starting problem, but at least now it's finally fixed!

well here's some pics of the grounds i installed using one of those grounding kits.. it's kinda messy..gotta tidy it up a bit lol

you can see one to the intake manifold, one to my HID grounds.. and another to the body..

closer look of one to the intake manifold..and in the lower left..one to the the tranny..

in this pic it's kinda hard to see..but one is going to the starter.. one to the cylinder heads, and 2 going to my HID's and body of the car

hope those pics helped somewhat
