PCM(ECU) Question

I recently purchased a new PCM for my 99 nissan maxima SE since my old one got messed up for driving the car with a messed up fuel injector. I tried to connect the new PCM but my security light turns on and I can't start the car. The car is still driveable with the old computer but it turns my check engine light on and its pretty much drcing on 5 cylinders. Do i have to take the PCM to the dealership to get it programmed or is there something I can do to over ride the security system and make it start.

Your old ECU is fine. I'm willing to bet that the reason your car is misfiring is a dead ignition coil.

BTW, the new ECU won't work because of the immobilizer system.

I tried changing the ignition coil but same problem. The fuel injector was bad but it has been changed as well.

So is there anyway I could bypass the immobilizer system or do I have to actually take it to the dealer to reprogram it??

Dealership....

As nismology said, your old ECU is fine if the car still starts. It's probably going to run the same way even after you program the new ECU.

Get a second opinion and troubleshoot more. ECU's don't quit that easily.

Update- Well took it to the dealer to reprogram it. It was $85.00 and now no more codes and car is running smooth again. The computer was faulty btw.
