Hey, i'd like to share my story with you. I go to meet a girl i've been talking to for awhile in Philly (about an hour away). I get the Max all cleaned up inside, and smelling good, get the hip hop cd's out, so the girl can feel the bass, and i was set. I get to her house, car's running fine, she even says she loves the sound of the engine. I get to a red light, the whole car turns off. I can't start it. It cranks continuously, and I even try to push start it, as embarrassing as it is on my date. The car absolutely does not want to start. Seems like fuel wasn't getting to the engine. It would start for a split second, then lose power and die.

I had to push the car onto the side of the road, with the help of a stranger named Steve. He knew alot about cars (as he said), and he was stumped as what it could be. I told him my car was having grounding issues, and I suspect the cranks sensor at fault.

Thanks to ThisMaxIsTight, he came RIGHT OVER in a matter of 10 minutes, and helped me out, and hooked me up with free towing to my house (an hour away). Needless to say the date was over, and I have my car to blame, and perhaps myself for letting the car get like this.

Tomorrow i'm taking the tranny out and sanding down the mating surfaces of the tranny and engine to restore the ground. I can't tell you how much frustration this caused me, not only for the car, but that the girl was one I didn't want to readily pass up. I also got to hear the tow truck driver's life story on the 2hr drive home.

2) talk to girl and tell her you think you've fixed your car and you want to give it another try.
3) chicks dig VQ35s.

But honestly, when you get it fixed and if the girl is worth half a damn she'll go on another date if you ask her. Just make sure you do have it fixed.

Also, if it cranked over fine why did you try to push start it? At any rate, I would put my money on the fuel pump...

 

That sucks Freddy. Same thing happened to me yesterday I was out in the afternoon with this girl I've been talking to. Come back to the car from hanging out and eating lunch 2.5 hrs+ and I had left the lights on. Dead battery city. Felt like a total douche but what can you do?





Other than not leave your lights on like a moron...

 

I went with this girl for a total of 10 minutes before my car threw a titty attack.

Wouldn't it be easier to just add a ground to the tranny? (on top of the small one it already has)

well me & this girl started tellin each other how much we liked each other and boom flat (not the max's fault) some bastard slashed my tires...

Afterwards, parked the car and went to grab a bite (5am) go back to the car the freaking alarm won't disable couldn't start the car for nothing...

Had to put the alarm close to the car for like 15min pressing the button for it to finally work.

btw: this happen again (another day) with the same girl but this time I was smart i didn't let the alarm activate.haha

But for now my max loves my gf haha

 

it would be easier, but the ground would eventually go bad again. I'm just gonna pull the tranny, and sand the mating surfaces, and hope for the best. I'm also gonna change out the fuel pump, and hope the girl calls again...preferably AFTER the vq35 swap.

 

lol when i first started going out with my g/f i had a tercel so dont worry about it.

 

I'd rather have a working tercel than a broken maxima.

Did you check you fuel pump fuse? Thats the first place id look- its easy to miss the obvious stuff

Well the constant popping everytime I turn the wheel doesn't attract girls either. Seems to do it more when there are more girls in the car. I have to fix my axel soon. Girls also cringe when I bottom out.

I say fuel filter. Fuel pumps don't go bad just like that.

 

ahhhh yeah it was some pretty crazy stuff listening to the max not wanting to start .. maxs always start!... yeah Freddy that girl was hawt ... glad you got home safely though ....... hmm I wonder if there is a way to check if in fact it was a bad fuel pump

ok so have u talked to this girl since then? What does she think? was she cool about it? I took this girl out to Centenial Olympic park here in Atlanta one night. We went out to eat and then chilled in tha park, walked around ya know. Then we start heading back to tha max. when I get there it looks like my window is down?? which is odd I dont do that in atl. but when I got up to it some fool smashed my window and broke into my car and they stole my video camera. Needless to say I called the cops and after waiting and no one coming we left. They broke into the passenger front window so there was glass all over the seat and everywhere up there. So she had to sit in the back. and it was cold with a lot of air blowing in because of not having that window! So she was cold! and I felt terrible! before that tho was really good and when we got home it was really good too! So other than that garbage thief, it turned out well!

 

yo i have 3.5 swap and yes the girls love it.the popping when on deccel and having flames coming my exhaust.and i have a system so that jus adds to the appeal factory i love it(but yeah my car didnt start one time and i had to push it to get it started,so embarssing(sp?) but thankfully we were in parking garage so that jus turned the girl on even more. wow..Thats crazy...Almost the same thing happen to me at school in my Jimmy but mine cranked up after of 10mins of trying...10mins dont sound like alot but its a lond time to be emassbled

I was emassbled for like half an hour the other day and it totally sucked.

 

honestly most girls do not care about a motor.........if it looks pretty they like it and that is it. i knwo where to never come for dating tips

Sorry to hear about your car. Call her up, we can be pretty merciful creatures! If she has her own set of wheels, she has had issues before also!
