Window Tint...How Dark??

So im going to get my windows tinted 2morrow but im not sure how dark i wanna go. My max is pearly white so dont know what would look best.
Do you recommend the front window strip? I'm not sure if it looks too dumb or not. I want some other ppl's opinions.

Well my car is pearl white and I went with 20% tints all around (illegal here) and I love it. Anything lighter just is not worth the money to me. I made a huge 11" wide strip across the front with 5% tint and I think it adds to the look. Whatever your decision remember the local laws.. Here anything darker than 35% is illegal, mine tested at 18% (georgia state patrol hehe)

Yea all my other cars I went with 20%. It's illegal here as well but I could care less, I have never been pulled over (knock on wood). So im pretty sure im gonna go with something around 20.

i have a pearl white max too, my rear windows are tinted 13%, which is legal on the back windows here in utah, and 43% on the front too, which is as dark as you can go on the fronts in Utah. in a few weeks, ill be down and phoenix and im gettin the two front windows retinted to 20%, because i like it dark.
13% is perfect for the back ones.

I was gonna ask if they did sunroofs, cuz i think i would want that done too. 5% is pretty dark though for anything.

NY is definately 70%, or basically, no tint.

I have 20%, and as conrad said, a little dark but nice. I do believe it's not worth getting a tint if it's not going to be a little dark.

I had 5% onthe back and 15% on the front....unfortunetally the only cop in my state that has a tint gun got me twice and I was forced to cut it off my windows on the side of the road...So now I'm a fish bowl and I tell ya what, I didn't think being able to see would ever suck a$$...The darker the better though, it really is worth the extra money and possible risk of losing your tint if its darker than usual! Good luck though!

Yea I went 20% on all my other cars and I agree it's worth the money even though in MD legal % is only 50...but y waste $$ on 50% you might as well leave it stock. That's why when I dropped my car of this morning I did 20% HP and got the sunroof done as well. And now it's done so im headed to pick it up. Now im jus waitin for my rims and complete suspension and it'll be lookin sick.

Thanks for all the input and I would def. recommend atleast 20% to anyone else because any thing lighter is a waste of money IMO.

The front strip is crucial. I highly recommend it. I don't have any tints on my car, but my boyfriend has it in his max. It is definitely a life saver when driving his car, the sun is just a nusiance in mine. As someone else had said, go with 20%-- its not too much, not too little.

Good luck!

I don't have any pictures, but 5% would be your ideal tint for your sunroof. Anything less would be pointless IMO. You can still see out of the sunroof, and the sun is still bright enough to light up your cabin fairly well. The main advantage is that it's a lot cooler, no annoyingly bright rays of light, and you don't have to pull the shade over everytime you park outside!

The fun part is when he makes you peel it all off right in front of him.

IDK about that. The front strip just doesnt appeal to me. It looks extemely like somethin a ricer would do. Now that all depends on how far you go down as well, cuz most places take it to the limit and then it looks stupid IMO. But if you are shorter than yes it does help cuz for some the visors dont block the sun.

I have never had that happen (knock on wood), but around here they dont make you peel it off in front of them...they give us inpection tickets and a certain number of days to do it. Do they really make u take it off in front of them??

Yes, it has happened to a couple friends of mine. One time my buddy got pulled over (i was with him) and the cop impounded his car no questions asked, then it happened to another buddy the next week or so in the same town (Countryside il.).

Come to find out a cop got shot (in Countryside il.) from a guy in the back seat when he was doing a traffic stop. The officer didn't see him i guess because of the tints. This was something i heard around the neighborhood and that's why Countryside was cracking down on tint's.
