look at ur brake master...if there a a big module underneath it u have ABS...if u just have 4 lines comming out of it not going to a big block a.k.a the module u dont have it......or go REALLLLLLLLY fast and slam on the brakes

Yeah I have ABS and I have an abs light that turns on when i turn the key to on. Its a red light. Otherwise the other most easiest way is to go fast and slam the brakes, more then likely the ABS will go off if u have it. If you dont be happy, i hate ABS.

also another way to tell, is on the rear of the front struts you will have your abs lines hooked up to a bracket on the back of the strut. If it does not have abs then you will not have a line hooked up to that bracket (assuming everyone uses the bracket...don't know why you would not)

its rare? I looked at 3 maxes before I got mine and all of them had ABS, one even had traction. The 5-speed is what is really rare. I saw 0 in 2 months time of car searching, and had to settle for auto as I could not wait any longer.

Extra weight.

My father's auto 95SE had ABS.

Less than 5% of Maximas were made with 5spds! ABS was an option for all trim levels but of course the GLE didn't come with a 5spd and IMO most people who upgraded their GXE's were also going to add automatic transmissions. So a 5spd with ABS is rare indeed.

ABS is standard on the i30
TCS I never saw on any 4th gen... was surprised when svojs said his had it.
My 96i30 didnt have it for sure, I'll find out about my 98 when it rains...
The only pre-2000 nissan that I knew had TCS was the Q45

Yes, trust me. ABS is very rare. I went to see several advertised Maximas "with ABS" only to find out they didn't. After I drove 60 miles to Orange County and got burned, I would make each seller go out to the car and turn the key to the ON postions and confirm 100% the car had ABS.

Now I need some some larger brakes to compliment the ABS. Do you still have those 300ZX rotors? I might get them from you.

That's the best way??? Seems to me that popping the hood and taking a quick look at the master cylinder or turning the key to ON is a lot easier than your two options. ??

It was a stand alone option for all three trim lines for all 5 years.

When I bought my 99 Max, I remember that I picked up the one that had most optional packages. Yes, TCS, front seat side airbags and seat heating coils are pretty rare on 99 models. The only option I don't have is "engine heating block". But in CA, I don't need it.
Actually, the TCS saved my a** long time ago. I just switched to this brand new 99 auto Max in early 1999. My previous ride was a '91 sentra 5-speed SER. Thus, I still felt that I was driving the SER. I seldom hit brake while curving.
Someday I entered a sharp curve (heading to left) and did not brake, suddenly my right front wheel was out of paved surface and ran onto the gravel. I jerked my wheel to left and my vehicle began to skid. The tail of my vehicle tends to sway to my right. Then I jerked wheel to right then stopped. During this accident, I can feel the skid of vehicle body but it is still under control. And the TCS cut the driving power of front wheels properly.
Thanks for the excellent design of Max.

<--- 98 SE 5 spd with non-bose and no abs. I know they're not dealer put on options because I have sunroof, spoiler (no rear window brake light), body color window and grille trim, SE wheels, SE cloth interior, and white gauges.
