My car smells like gas
Sometimes after parking my car, you can smell the gas fumes. Its strong enough that if I leave it in the garage the fumes will seep into the whole house. The smell is stronger by the engine compartment, but you can get it in the cabin when the AC/Heat is on.
I don't see anything leaking, as far as I can tell. Besdies changing the fuel filter I cant think of anything else that it could be? The smell is driving me crazy at this point.

eww thats sic, you dont see anything leaking because gasoline evaporates really fast... maybe you can smell something leaking... o wait you already do... maybe it is possible to sniff out where the leak is... however, in a health point of view, this is not recommended... I dunno maybe have your fuel lines checked?

Is there any common failure that anyone knows about?

I had that same probelem about 18 months ago, the smell and the bad mileage. It turns out my evaporator purge control solenoid was going bad. I had my mechanic change everything and it cost me $339 dollars. I would have someone check that first, there are several parts in that system that can fail. Have them at least diagnose it first before they start changing out parts. Also, what codes are you getting? good luck man

are you running a straight pipe instead of a cat? I do on my boosted car and it smells like straight gasoline. Also a symptom of a charcole canister being full is the smell of gas. How about a leaking injector? Even if it is any of the things I listed you still should not get "that" bad of gas mileage.

I would add the fuel filler neck to the list as well, evey time I got out my car I smelled fuel, had it checked out I needed mine replaced. Got it here for $35 and a friend to install it for $30
