Half my electrical system is not working

I just changed out my alternator and must of shorted something out in the process. Now half my electrical system is not working. I've check all the fuses but not the relays, yet. Below are a list of known working and non-working things. Any help would be great.

Working:
Headlights
Trunk Opener
Audio System
Car Starts and runs

Non-working:
A/C
Parking Lights
Windows
Door Locks
Power Seats

There may be a number of other things that I have not discovered.

Check every fuse, each and every one. Even the ones not listed for A/C and such. But if you did that your next step would be checking the relays. Good luck!

Was there any sign of sparks or (argh) smoke when this happened? The harness wires are narrow gauge, the worst that could happen is you've melted a harness wire.

New alternator doesn't seem to be charging either

There was a spark when I reconnected the positive terminal on the battery. Testing the voltage between the positive and the ground is showing that the new alternator isn't working either. Seems like I royally screwed screwed something up.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any other comments or suggestions would be appreciated also.

Circuit Breakers???

Anyone know where the Circuit Breakers are in our Max? According to the Haynes manual, there are 2 breakers somewhere under the left end of the instrument panel that control the windows, doors, and power seat. I can't seem to find anything...not really sure what I'm looking for since I don't see anything that resembles a home-type circuit breaker. Pics would be awesome.

There is a bigger fuse on the drivers side fuse box that could be blown. It's a big one 140 amp maybe? It's near the middle on the drivers side close to the fender. If this is bad you will have to remove a screw or two to get it out. That is a dealer only part, you won't find it at napa/autozone/checker... I blew this one time when I hooked my battery up wrong. I'm more carefull now.

Couldn't find the fuse you were talking about. I was able to verify that the following electrics are NOT working:

Power Door Locks
Power Windows
Power Seats
Instrument Panel
Air Conditioner
Side Markers

I just changed my alternator. Step 1: disconnect negative battery teminal. I ould check every fuse inside the car. Also check the smaller, longer fuse box next the the battery for your fuses.

Im going to go with a melted Wire. There is no fuse that will disable all that at one time unless it caused a chain reaction with the others which i dont think is possible.

I can't remember exactly, but some stuff worked and some stuff didn't. Like that other guy said this fuse is in the fuse box next to the battery, it's a bigger one. Hopefully the melted wire is not the case.

i had the same exact symptoms you had. i tightened up some things under my hood and my rachet slipped and hit the positive and negative terminals and blew that big 120 amp fuse. i went to a junkyard cause the DING DING at the dealer couldnt find it. any way.....

if that is your problem, its a big white fuse says 120 amp. cant miss it. you have to unscrew the fuse box off the chassis and unscrew the two nuts holding it in place (its that big)

for the reference note. in case you end up goin to a junkyard like i did. find any infiniti Q45 or mitsubishi eclipse/eagle talons. they have this fuse(if you cant find another max). i got like 3 or 4 of them for 80 cents
god bless junkyards

Can someone post a pic of this fuse and it's location? I can't seem to locate this fuse for the life of me.

Thanks...sorry for my ignorance.
