OBD Scanner Info Needed
OBD Scanner Info Needed
Hello,
After much searching I have come up short. I am looking for ant info on using a PC or Palm to read codes and hopefully info in real-time. Any and all links would be great. If anyone is or has used something it would be great if you could give your opinion on how it worked, how hard it was to get working.....
I am looking to use my Empeg Rio player (its actually a computer in a DIN case) to display engine/code info of its display. There have been a few guys that have done this already using the Rio but not on a Maxima. So I need to know that works with the Max.
Thanks in advance
Rick

You can get an ELM 323 on eBay for around $50, that's what I have and it works fine. You need an available serial port to plug it into (or a USB to serial port adapter). It doesn't come with any software, but there are lots of free software out there and sellers normally post links to several free and comercial softwares that you can download. For the free software that I've tried, I like Scanmaster the best. It will read and clear stored error codes, give you real-time sensor data, and it has (in my opinion) the cleanest and most professional looking user interface.
