removing control arm

just wondering for the 27 mm nut for the control arm.

will a regular 27mm socket to a 1/2 inch socket work, or is it to tight and requires a crescent wrench.

for those that did this, what was the most difficult part in removing the c.a.?

btw; i have no impact gun..

There's a 27mm nut on the LCA? Holy moly, I'm just planning a suspension rebuild and didn't realize I'd need the big guns for the LCA?

Or do you mean the axle nut on the wheel bearing?

Most of the suspension nuts seem to torque in the region of 100-120lbs. The axle nut is 200lbs. From what I remember 1/2" sockets will do this. A long bar will make it much easier. I got a 3ft breaker bar and nothing much argues with that!

1/2 sockets can easily handle 500ft-lb. IIRC removing that nut took some pretty hefty bangin from an impact wrench.

They are on pretty tight, I would say in the 140ft/lb area.

The most difficult part for me was seperating the ball joint with the pickle-fork, really had to go to town on it.

I had to remove the ball joint once to remove the steering knuckle to replace the wheel bearing.

I rented a tool from autozone that fit perfectly in there to separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle easily. I can't remember what the name of the tool was. It was one of those seperators like you would use to separate the steering tie rods.
