oooooooooookkkk....

as i ponder what this code means and what needs to be fixed, the check engine light has turned off. Is this normal? what does it mean? has my "light" just burned out?

also, this is the 2nd occurrence for this code.....

What year is your car? When the system does a self check and see's that there is nothing wrong it will go out again. I had the same problem/code and changed my gas cap and it hasn't come back on in months. Try it since it really doesnt cost much.

so you had the "P0443: Evap Emission Control System Purge Valve C Fault"
code and all you did was change the gas cap??

quite bizarre...did u go w/ another OEM nissan cap or some autostore cap?

Anyone else have any ideas what this code means? I only ask b/c i need to do a smog test soon.....

just make sure you reset the light before you go through the test most likely it will pass.

I haven't gotten this specific code, but I have gotten a bunch of other EVAP codes. I wish I had some info for you. All I have been able to find is that you should check the lines. There seems to be a general lack of knowledge about this, or else it's too difficult to explain online. I just checked my lines, nothing obviously wrong, cleared the codes, and it drives fine. But now there is a whine from the canister. No idea. If someone knows about the EVAP system I think the how to section could use some help in that area.

EVAP systems are a complicated thing. The reason I replaced the gas cap on mine is because I asked two different master techs what the problem could be with that code and they both told me it can be almost anything and that 99% of the the fault thats triggered is caused by something else. I've noticed in general with Nissans with that code its either the valve at the canister in the back or the gas cap.

Oh yeah I got one from the stealership but I get stuff at wholesale cost so I have no idea what it would cost regularly.
