Clutch going bad???
Clutch going bad???
So my Maxima just turned 150,000 the other day and im starting to have problems with the clutch. I highly doubt it has ever been replaced so its probably due time anyway. When i shift gears and get back into the gas, the RPM's raise up, but the car doesn't accelerate like it should. Also, when i push in the clutch, whether the car is moving or not, i hear a whining noise. The noise i hear is very similar to a supercharger (lol). But really, do you guys think my clutch is going? Which clutch kit would you suggest if in fact that is the problem and i need a new one?
thanks in advance.

The whining noise with the clutch disengaged is most likely the TO bearing, and if your clutch is slipping (RPMs go up but little/no acceleration) while fully engaged, it's about time for that to be replaced as well.
Most go for the 5th gen clutch setup, holds very well.

Ok, now here is the tough part. What shops will put in a 5th gen clutch without confimation? I mean I can't just go up to them and say a message board said I can put one in.
I would do the clutch myself, but I need a lift and more tools, I have not done them in like 2 years. And I really don't have the time to do it either.

^ If that's the case where they won't install something you want because it's not confirmed...then just don't tell them?? It's not like the package says 5th gen clutch not for 4th gen.
There's no reason in putting in a clutch other then OEM usless u have sufficent mods done to your car. There is a boosted Maxima using the Exedy Stage 1 clutch and everything is fine. (Exedy Stage 1 clutch = 5th gen clutch) So wouldn't the OEM Exedy Clutch be better costing 200 bucks and being bigger, thicker, and better then any aftermarket one and the 4th gen one, especially if it fits perfectly..
