Looking for Thread or do you know how to....
D'oh, I locked my keys in the car. I don't know how the doors locked because you can't lock the door when the door is open. Does anyone know how to get into the max? I really really appreciate it. Will a coat hanger work?

I have a spare key hidden on the outside of my car. This episode tells you that you should have one too.
Use a coathanger and a long screwdriver. Straighten the hanger and put a small hook on the end going into the car. Take the screw driver, slide it into the space between the door and weather stripping above where the power door lock is and slowly rock it so that more and more of the screwdriver is inside the vehicle. Then pull lightly on the screwdriver, with just enough space to put the hanger through. Angle the hanger towards the power lock on the drivers side door and pray that you hit the switch. I have done this numerous times for people, and only doesn't work well on cars with no door frame. Or, you could just make a spare key.

Thanks, I'm going to make a spare key at lunch tomorrow. I'll let you all know what happens.

I got locked out of my car and AAA used a small piece of plastic about 5 inches long that looked like a ramp to wedge between the roofline and the top back corner of the drivers side front door. Once the plastic was in place, a long piece of steel was used to hit the lock swith to open the door.

Screwdriver=wedge
Long piece of steel=coathanger.

This is not true. I routinely lock my Maxima this way.
Yes, if you are skilled. Steck makes lockout tools. Look at http://www.steckmfg.com/32900.htm to see what a professional uses. Can you improvise something like that?

How do you lock your doors that way? Whenever I was trying to lock the door, open, it wouldn't lock.

LOCKING WITH INSIDE LOCK ****
Pushing the front door inside lock **** to the lock position will lock all doors.
To lock from the outside without a key, move the inside lock **** to the LOCK position. Then close the door.
When locking the door this way, be certain not to leave the key inside the vehicle.
The part Nissan calls a "lock ****" is the small lever just above the inside door opener lever. Perhaps you hit that lever inadvertently.

After a couple of hours
I just gave up. I'm studying for my series 7 test and it was about 1 am. I called a locksmith, they wanted $65. I wasn't paying that price. So I called the police, they referred me to a company. The tow truck guy wasn't going to do it at first. They charged me $35. I gave him $40. My girl, purchased me a some keys from home depot. Of course they didn't start the car, but they allowed me to get into the car.
