Once And For All, B-pipe Hp Gain
Can anyone finally settle this, How much HP do you gain from installing a B-pipe? If any...I have looked at the stickies asked tons of questions and no one seems to have a difinative answer. Someone posted a link where a guy put on a b-pipe and he said he gain about 4-5 hp, but that was only one person other have said since it only take out some restrictions it really gives you nothing. I know other people have experience with a new b-pipe, tell me whats up and if it's worth it....Also would I have to get a new muffler to?

so there r some hp gains, yeah, cuz I have a budget y-pipe and just got a b-pipe but need to do some customizing to fit it on so I wanted to know if it was worth it....Thanks....
Anyone else have an opinion?....

The most noticeable difference youll notice w/ the addition of a B-pipe is the exhaust tone. So by IMO it would only be "worth it" if you want your car to sound louder. I have WSP full exhaust and it sounds great and I considered it worth it bc I got a deal on the B-pipe

yeah, not sure there is much dyno information on just a b-pipe, i dont recall coming across anything. 1-4 hp might be a good guess.
as for as the y&b being worth it to you, if you were looking to free up some hp for performance you should be happy. id say its worth it.

oh ok, good info...How about this. Has anyone just had a new piece of pipe welded to replace the "bent" part of the b-pipe instead of buying a whole new set pipe? because basically thats what its all about right, that little part and maybe a lttle bit bigger in diameter right?

Stock w/Stillen Cone
vs
Stillen Cone and Y-pipe
vs
Stillen Cone, Y-pipe & B-pipe

in terms of power putting an after market y-pipe will give you some gains, a b-pipe isnt that restrictive and really isnt robbing the car of much power.
Pretty much it will be a sound mod more than a power mod. Unless your boosted

I think converting the whole exhuast path to 2.5in can only be a good thing. I have read articles (in sport compact car for example) that put to rest alot of exaust diameter vs. engine displacement myths. For an N/A 3.0L 2.5'' was the best diameter for both flow and exhaust stream velocity.
Even having seen much data in the 3-5hp range, I think this (2.5b) will be a good mod for all around driving, not just a dyno pull. Just looking at the crush in the stock b-pipe and s-section (for my '98) after the cat, I can tell that the VQ is going to rev easier in the higher rpm's.
The exhaust can only flow as quickly as your worst section (crush, s).
