And, as always, time to test her out! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I have the option of using either the AE cluster gauge overlay, or the original black one. I am going to be using the black one as I prefer the cleaner look of the white.

Looks friggin awesome. What is the deal with the right signal indicator? It's lit up. I'll bet the red in the needles is friggin insane. Can we please see a picture with you using the factory dimmer switch? Maybe 1/2 bright and full bright. My concern is of course being completly blinded while driving at night.
Thanks and +1 for a new idea.

Damn that's alot of work. Looks fcking sweet though. The 95-97 cluster looks totally different on the inside. Maybe I should swap a 5th gen one in

STEP XII - NEEDLE LEDs
Last but certainley not least is the needle LEDs. As you can see we will be using a 4-LED array with no resistor. We will not be needing one since the circut is regulated at 12V. I did this in white as I was out of blue LEDs, but I still have yet another trick up my sleeve! Simply make a PCB square, solder the LEDs in place, and go! I also enlarged the size of the hole for the OME needle to allow alot more of the LED to blow up the needle.

My car will be in the shop as the alternator is dead, FTMFL. It is to be hoped I get the car back tommorow so I can get the needles done and get her rolling!

You can def do this in a 4th gen, dude. All you need to do is some extra trimming, that's all. I looked into using superflux LEDs for this, I think we'd both see as nice results with either type of LED. By all means, lemme know if you have any question!

SUCCESS!!!!!

Everything is back in, I am going to take some picture tonight (to do it justice). I really should have done the needle-mount LEDs in blue, perhaps I will take care of this at a later date, I want to see what it looks like at night.

Oh, and I only have a single project left for THE overhaul, so, suffice to say, I am quite excited!!!

Special thanks go to Barc for checking his cluster to provide me the reference values for the gauges...I lost the paper I wrote them down on.

STEP XIII - ENJOY!
The last step will involve tapping power leads. Simply tap off of an OEM positive lead and ground the two wires as previously described. These pictures suck total *****, I'm using my fiancee's camera. I'll have more pictures up tommorow. It's bright. OFFENSIVLEY BRIGHT. Puts and Accord to shame bright. SO, if you're looking for an INSANELY bright cluster, follow these steps! Good luck!

he could possibly, but he'd need an army of workers working for him. even one project of this size takes many many hours to do, and probably wouldn't justify the cost people are willing to pay...

Dan, i can barely see the needles.. are they painted? cus you put white LEDs behind them right?

Total time involving installation and soldering was about 20 hours. Granted if I had pre-made boards, it'd be ALOT faster.

PCB Boards - $5
SMT LEDs - $30
Resistors, VRs, and Heatsinks - $20

...so probably around $60 total.
