still clunking ..grrr..

so i finally finished replacing half the front suspension on this damn car and its still clunking when i go over bumps.

first off, its a metallic clunk coming from the passenger area.
i removed the wheel, and move all around for freeplay, and nothing seems out of place.

now, what ive done so far. changed both shocks. new shock bearings, new shock boots.
ive also changed 2 lower control arms. along w/ new sway bar end links, and the balljoints that came w/ the lca's.

been working on this damn thing every opportunity i get a chance .....

if anything, the only plus to this is it handles 10x better than when i bought it.

Did you put in new strut mounts?

no, actually, i didnt. im suspecting the left side needs a new strut mount. since i hear a thumping on the drivers side. and it appears to be near the strut mount.

the pass side, is definitely coming from underneath the wheel well somewhere

I had a clunk when I bought my 1997 GXE. I had someone else find it because my dealer couldn't. It was the driver side rocker panel. The dealer finally fixed it after a couple tries and it never returned despite 3 accidents and 115k miles.

Open both front doors, press down hard in the middle of the rocker panel either with your hands or feet on each side of the car. Pull up and press down several times. Any noise?

check the jack and other stuff in the trunk...sometimes its not your car's problem. always check simple things first...
