obx cat back ?

hey guys,

How is a obx cat back? reliability and quality wise? is it noisy? I am getting a 4 month used obx cat back for $180...is that good? worth it?

I dont wanna get something too noisy cause i like the way my car sounds now with OEM stuff...

thanks,
Ken

Get a Cattman B pipe and keep the stock rear section or get a 5g rear section.

Aftermarket y-pipe + PBX cat-back = +

The OBX catback has a pretty good amount of drone without the silencer installed. With the silencer installed, it's not much louder than stock. The only problem is that it looks stupid with the silencer installed IMO.

'Loud' means something different to everyone, so take whatever you read here with a 1/4 grain of salt.

the obx catback is an inexpensive stainless steel catback. i have one because its the least expensive of the catback exhausts and is still stainless steel. it's like half the price of a greddy.
it is a bit loud, i think it's more loud if you're auto than 5 spd, and the tip is pretty freakin huge. i have some pics on my homepage if you want to see it on the car. btw i have a '95 and the obx catback i have is for 97-99, so that's why it sticks out a bit.

I also have the OBX Type H cat-back, and overall I do like it. The tip is a monster 4.5" tip, and yes, PLEASE keep the silencer in tact. I took mine out, as the adjuster piece broke free behind it, and now my car has a horrible drone between 2500-3000rpm. I just ordered a new silencer piece actually.

Overall, it is a nice exhaust, but if you are happy with what you have, I'd say stay stock. I just upgraded mine as my stock exhaust was pretty worn out, and I just replaced the whole system, y pipe, high flow cat, and a cat back, all in one swoop.

Yeah I have the same problem the stock exhuast is worn and hangers are broken and corroded. I am changing to a warpspeed Y pipe and the local shop in LI has a 4 month used OBX (said its a exact copy of greddy sp2) not a big tip supposedly, for $180. I am not sure what my other options are since i really do need to fix the B pipe cause its gone. How much would a stock cat back cost?
