brake pad spring?

brake pad spring?

I had bought a set of brake pads from the dealer and i noticed it didnt have the holes for the spring that pushes the pads apart. Now recently I bought a set of hawk pads and it didnt have it ethier. Is it ok to not install the spring?

Taking my brakes apart, I just noticed that I had the springs fitted on the right but not the left. Didn't make one bit of difference in the 6months I'v been driving it like that.

It's not as if the springs have any force, they're pretty pathetic in comparison with the forces needed to move any of that stuff. Personally, I don't really understand why they're there.
