Should I go to the Dark Side?

Well I was at Infiniti today waiting for the Snap-On truck. Long story short I ended up with this. Should I go install it or just screw it and sell it?

Who knows. I wasn't talking about the motor just the DEk Swap. Dark-Side beacause the DEK manifold is black.

Well I am a big FAN of DE/MEVI but I hear good things about the DEK just never thought the minimal gains to be worth the extra hassel and fabrication.

VQ30DE-KT/VQ30DET-K, or whatever the hell the nomenclature for the I30T engine is> VQ30DE or VQ30DE-K. haha do it man as long as the miles aren't that bad and clean that thing up!

If you're a big fan of the DE and MEVI then this is a no brainer, the DEK is better than both.

WTF did you just say?

Let me try to figure this out. The I30T has a VQ30DE-KT/VQ30DET-K???

Now I understand why that one dude said I30/I35s are 3 times better than the "cheap" Maxima. It gets that special motor.

And Zack install it. Actually put something on the car already. You buy all this stuff and then say screw it in the end. I still think you need to install the BBK.

Not sure about the motor. For what I paid i assume its not worth putting into my car. If anything I would have to pull all the components and install the Manifold.
4DRSpeed:
For everything I sell I usually have 1 for myself. The BBK is an exception because I don't wanna get larger wheels in fear of negitive performance.

For what you paid LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, sell the DEK VI to me for $1.... And we can install it together, then give me the DEK motor to install in my Sentra.

sarcasm>me possibly.. but yes it does have a slightly better motor obviously. But its not 2,3,4,5 better than the maxima. Just an engine. But essentially yes its a DE-K thats turbo'd so hence the "T." I wasn't throwing that out there to sound like a techy I was just making a point..

maybe i should pick up that VQ35 from a 350z from my work, im sure they'd let it go for cheap, seeing as theres a chunk of aluminum missing from the side of the block and a piston missing hahaha. who said women drive there cars nice and gentle?

if i were in your position, id probably swap engines from what ive read the DEK VI swap is quite tricky. i think in my case i could easily pull the engine in less time then the DEK VI swap. but atleast you got all the parts youd need for it, so how much did you pick up the engine for?

I thought the dark side is turbo. That looks like a turbo in the front of the first pic, but all of it is in bad shape. I was never aware that any VQ came turbocharged minus JDM engines (VQ30DET).

Being at Infinity, you were obviously in the US (Yes your location is a US place, but people do travel overseas). I would like to know what car that came out of.

If you keep the manifold you could try to part out the rest, and you could recycle the rest at a recycler for $.xx/lbs

Well it would be a VQ30DET, but theres no turbo on there anymore, so it's just a DE-K..

are you under the impression that the I30t is turbo? t stands for touring. There was no turbo on that engine, and the engine is EXACTLY the same as a 2000-2001 Nissan Maxima. There are no stock turbo maximas.

the i30t has the same motor as the regular i30 and the maxima... there haven't been any stock turbo nissans in the us since the z32.

edit: whoops tavarish beat me to it.

I am going to keep my eye open for the next engine. They have a QX4 3.5 that I am going to see if I could get my hands on .

350z's use the VG35, not the VQ35, and you will have a lot of work to do since 350z is rear wheel drive layout, and yours is fwd, oh and btw, women misshift

Then, I guess I was misinformed before, or just got mixed up with the 300zx, sorry, next time I'll think before I post, and do some research.

I say go for it unless you have plans for a 3.5 swap in the future.

Some years (1 or 2) after the VG but before the VQ40 they had a VQ35, I think it may have been the same years that HID's were first featured in them as well ('02-'03?)

The QX4 never had a 4.0L engine in it. It always featured some of the same engines as the Pathfinder of the corresponding year(s). The QX56 is a different story, obviously, but it's never had a 4.0L either.

According to the stickies, installing a DE-K takes alot of time. They also said the same about the 3.5 swap. I'm thinking theyre just about as troublesome. Not a weekend job. According to the amount of time you can invest in the car, decides accordingly

Actually thanks for correcting me everyone, yes for some reason I've been under the impression that the I30t was a turbo'd car. I think I got that from a friend saying they were turbo'd, Mike on here, and some guy I saw at a shopping center a while back had an I30t and it drove by and appeared to be spooling.. hmm well guess thats cleared up, its funny to me though. thanks again sry for the mix up lol..

not true. DE-K can be installed in a day. 3.5 swaps take a bit more time because you have to rip apart both the 3.0 and 3.5. They're not troublesome if you have any idea of what you're doing.
