However, its 85 in NY, do I still need a heating gun to take it off or will the temperature be suffice? Also, the dental floss keeps on breaking, any advise?

Just leave your car in the sun and the emblems will be really soft. You can even use your fingers, "thats all i used"

Borrow some fishing line from a friend. If all else fails fingers, but careful.

Let her bake in the sun. Some dental floss is all you will need, and a calloused thumb comes in handy. Remove any excess adhesive with GOOF-OFF. I don't recommend using ANYTHING ELSE.

Or, do what I did and park at queens center mall, and let someone take them off for you while your shopping

Use floss with a back and forth sawing motion always pulling the floss toward you as not to scratch the paint. You'll break it repeatedly but keep going till you can pull the emblem off.

Then a little Goo Gone and you're good to go.

This is a good time of year to do it, don't need a heat gun.

Yea as previously said I didnt heat up the letters either. Actually did mine during the winter too....fishing line is much easier to use on this mod. Dental floss is not strong enough.

I used dental floss (I did not have any fishing line), but I had to double it over and twist it a couple of times so it would not break so easily. As was mentioned earlier, you definitely have to saw it back and forth.

The bigger PITA is getting all of the adhesive off that was under it. I used a lot of goo-gone and scraped away with a plastic spackling spreader. It worked fine but took a long time. Better than using your fingernails.

excuse the dirt on the bumper... it just rained.

thanks for everyone's help... much appreciated.
i use a strong rope that we use for sticky rice, asian will know what it is. dental floss broke every second, however, i would agree to use fishing line (didnt have any). removing the nissan emblem and maxima letters was real easy!!!!!!! once it was removed, the sticky stuff was the worst part of it, it took me over 2 plus hrs to get rid of everything... I first sprayed it with WD40, then after 15 minutes I use R&S Strauss Auto GoJo Clean hand creamer. this finally dried and then i used my fingers to rub the glue off, use every finger to not get a blister. once you have all the glue off, use GoJo Clean to rub and then GooGone. this should work, everyone in the forum made it sound easy, but let me say "it's hard"...

I still have some glue on the back of mine. Every now and again I go out and rub some off. Hopefully It'll be all gone by the end of summer.
