Bad clutch line on 4th gen

I discovered yesterday that my clutch was sticking. I checked my clutch master cylinder and it was almost empty. I filled it up and inspected the car, but could only find a small amount fluid on the front line. It appeared to be a very slow leak, so I was driving around the car today. In a short drive across town, my clutch was having problems disengaging. I checked the master cylinder and it was already halfway down. I got someone to let me borrow some brake fluid to fill it up again and drove it home.

I drove my other car over to Courtesy Nissan to get a line and a slave cylinder. Butch, at the counter, told me that he has been selling a lot of the long flex lines that go to the slave cylinder and doubted the slave cylinder was bad. It took about an hour to change the line and bleed the clutch. All seems fine again. I have never heard before that this is a problem, so I am curious who else has had the same problems. BTW, my 97' only has 66K miles on it.

I had that problem. Fixed now. There's a group deal going on for stainless steel lines, and many have bought into that. Wonderful, but hard to get the stats you're looking for since they all changed out the stock part before it failed. I'm glad you're safe; not having clutch sucks.

Mine went bad a while back, but lasted longer than yours. drove it around for a bit, but frequently topped off the master cylinder. All is good now.

I bought the SS clutch line from Derrik, made by Technafit, about two years ago on here, and I just got around to putting it in yesterday. With the ACT stage 1 and 116000 miles on the odo, my clutch would chatter when moving slowly and slipping the clutch. Now I feel like the pedal modulation is much more controlled and the chatter has also been reduced. Mine wasn't sweating fluid yet, but was definitely flexing due to it's age. Easy mod to do, and you won't have to worry about it again.

I haven't seen a write-up on installing it. Althought there might be.

I just bought my Max, which had a clutch job done on only a day or two before I got it (new disc/pressure plate/flywheel polish). The clutch felt fine, but after running a while on the interstate it got *really* mushy; it would go down to the floor and I still wouldn't be able to put it in gear. It was like that sporadically during the 4 hour freeway trip home, but since then, just driving around town, it's been fine.

Air in the lines, perhaps?

Why spend $70 on a rubber line from Nissan when you can get a SS line from the group deal section for $25 and have a better feeling clutch.
