i just bleed my brakes using the speed bleeder and it feels soft. i have not bleeder my brakes since i bought my car new 97. using speed bleeder is striaght forward. is what i am feeling is normal? is it possible that i had the nipple too lose? what do you think?

 

It is possible you had it too loose. You want to crack it just enough that it bleeds fluid, and no more. If you have a helper, it might be good to do a couple finish pumps at each corner while manually opening and closing the bleeder under pressure. So if you're sucking in a little air, manually opening the bleeder should stop it.

The good news is that a slightly soft pedal is better than really old / dirty fluid. I've bled my brakes numerous times and for some reason it never seems firmer.

your local autozone has it. the brand name is russell that comes from speedbleeder. they all come from the same place.

 

yea u prolly had the bleeder open to much,..,all u need is like a 1/4 turn...i usually do 2 manual bleed to finish off

 

ok, while bleeding with the speedbleeder, should you feel resistance on brake pedal or should the pedal be soft?

 

There should definitely be some resistance while pumping, but not as much as braking.

Ouch, both speedbleeder.com and kragen has them for retail price.

I recently had a problem w/soft pedal. I did 2 things: bleed the master cyl, and bed-in the pads. Try those.
