under normal driving , the car shifts and drive perfect..
But when in 2nd gear and i get to about 6k or 6.5k i hear a lil grinding noise goin into 3rd.... how serious is this and what the f*cc can i do to get this under control.....

1) It's probably a damaged synchro
2) Shift less urgently. There's no point to slamming into 3rd. If shifting easier doesn't help, double-clutch into 3rd (meaning: shift from 2nd to neutral, clutch out, clutch in, shift to 3rd). If the double-clutch improves things, it supports the damaged synchro theory.

LOL I was going to say double clutch as well. If doing a 2-3 Double clutch doesn't help then do a 2-4-double clutch 3.
In other words, shift to 4th from 2nd at about 3-4K RPMs. Then double clutch to 3rd.
May I ask, other then synchro problems, what is the point of double-clutch upshifting? I can see double clutch downshifting, but upshifting seems like you would just lose too much time doing all that.
For the record, does anyone heel-and-toe? I can get my foot in a decent position if I pull over and spend 20 seconds testing and setting it, but then I can't even properly do it.
Anyway .... all just my .02 . Enjoy

Damn 96SEsleepa,
I want to say synchro also. Does this happen every 2-3 shift or every 2-3 shift @ 6k?
Double clutching an upshift will just take waay too long, and I dont see much point in doing it.
My heel toe game is getting rather nice. At first getting the right footwork cause for some akward braking and shifting but I've figured it out and am getting pretty decent at it.

I only mentioned double clutching so that he has an option until it's fixed.
Heel-toe for me would be useful on the track, but my Maxima is not a track car. Unfortunately my track car (RX-7) is more cramped and it's more difficult to get my foot over both pedals there.
