Window regulator replacement how-to

Window regulator replacement how-to
Hi All,
I need to replace the left rear window regulator in my 1995 Maxima. I have done this several times in a 1990 Maxima, and there are some great how-tos on the internet like http://www.4dsc.com/articles/interior/index.shtml . Does anyone know of a how-to for the 4th gen Maxima window regulator replacement? If not, has anyone done it, and are there any tips or gotchas that came up? I don't have my factory service manual with me, but when I start the job, I will have it. Frequently its steps are less than complete though.
Thanks, Colin.

Hey, I use to do auto glass and the only thing I can think of besides removing the door glass and the vent glass is normal stuff that if you did on your 90' max this should be basically the same no real "suprises". Door panel off, 10mm bolts that hold vent glass in and door glass to regulator, and wiring connection for the regulator, ya I cant think of anything.. Nissan designs this kind of stuff pretty well so you shouldnt run into any problems.

i thought i needed a new regulator 4 both my rear windows but noticed that there were only these cheap plastic pieces nissan use to hold the window up that was broken. The motor worked it just couldnt catch the window, i took tha panel off and did som re-aligning and got both of my rear windows working again after years of em bein broken.

I figured it was mostly the same, but I was hoping for pictures showing the location of fasteners and pop points and the like. I don't like winging it because I have broken things before doing that when the correct procedure was available if I knew where to look.
You actually don't have to loosen the glass track, but it is a little more tedious. Nissan generally designs things well, I wish they would have upgraded the cheesy window regulator instead of using the same bunk for 10 years. This is the 9th one our family has replaced on 3 Maximas.

I finally found the replacement procedure in BF-17 I believe of the FSM, I'm not sure it makes sense where they put it without at least referencing it in other places or indexing it. I prefer to get replacement parts from Coutesy Parts ($72). This time, because I need it right away for my parents car in Spring, I paid more ($91) and picked it up at Peacock Nissan. You can sometimes find them ridiculously cheap ($9) by googling, like at Parts Train.
@Crushed
You are right, I have never had to replace a motor. It is the plastic piece on the shuttle that breaks off of the tab on the transport cable. I have never tried to epoxy them back together and mine were completely broken through, not just slipped or misaligned.
@psu2fan
Fortunately I haven't had that problem.
The one gotcha that came up is twice when I tried to align the glass and then tighten the screws on the window shuttle and regulator frame, the glass slipped back out of the track and I only realized it when the window would bind going up. Finally I secured the glass to the shuttle, got the glass in the track, rolled it up, then tightened the regulator frame to the door.
Thanks all for your suggestions.
