Window Tinting in South NJ?

Topically how much does it cost and is it true that you cant use the windows for a 1 wk or 2?

Also for anyone in NJ the tint laws are any in the rear and NONE up front im going to get 5% around . But my question is has anyone had gotten a ticket for the tint, some of my friends got warning but no tickets....

Hi,
Down where I live - central jersey..a lot of the cops here pay specific attention to cars that have tints. Some of my friends have even gotten their tints slashed by cops. I perosnally have only gotten the backs done 15%

Yes cops can remove your tint they arent going to be punished.

In the state of NJ the rear window and the rear windows on the side can be tinted as dark as you want. The windsheild and the front windows, however, are not allowed to have ANY tint at all. You can tint them everyone does but dont push it. None of the windows are allowed to be metalic or mirrored. if the back window is done you need to have dual side mirrors.

so in short if you do the front ones dont go lower then 20-25% or your asking for it. Mine will be 20% up front and either 10 or 5 % in the rear.

Im good friends with an officer who writes tickets to anyone who has tint, one of his co-workers was almost killed because of the driver was waiting inside his tinted car with a gun(the car was stolen), lucky the fool didn't know how to shoot.
If the guy didn't know how to shoot the gun, the officer would never made it cause he didn't know it was coming because of the tinted windows. A officer down in franklinville, nj (south jersey) was killed about 7 yrs ago when a driver shot him point blank after rolling his tinted windows down.

Respect the officers, they risk their lives everyday, dont make it harder on them.
This just around my area, im sure theres more stories about tinted windows.

I also know about 20 other people who got 1-2 tickets from tint on the front windows.

Everyone i know who gets tint on the front windows, dont have it a month later, hmm wonder why.

Dont tint it, why you want to attract cops?

Although 5% looks the nicest because you cant see throught it at any point of the day it is a hassle I feel not worth the price. Get 10 or 15 percent, it makes a lot more sense. When I got my windows tinted I had to choose b/w 5 and 20 and Im glad I went with 20. Its lighter thats for sure but you will be kicking yourself in the a$$ when you cant see out of the back window at night. Everytime Im reversing at night I say to myself thank god I went with 20. 5 is way too dark for conventional use, I say 10 or 15 for best of both worlds.

I couldn't use my windows for 3 days after my tint was put on. 20% on the side windows and rear window cost me $170.

first off any smart cop who values his life will make the perp roll the windows down before he even gets to the car. thats one of the reasons the cruisers have a PA system and a spot light on top of that.

second off im going 35% all around since i have a black leather interior...

and for the ticket worriers its a 44 dollar ticket every time and yes they can take your tint off. You broke the law and that alone gives them the right. for instance you need a search warrent to search a car BUT if they have probable cause your toast. such as if we smell beer or marijuana.

final thought...if your worried about tickets follow the law and noone will bother you. if youve got money to burn be my guest.

"trying to catch me ridin dirty" they see me rollin they hatin, patrolin and they wont catch me ridin dirty, LOL...."

well, if you get pulled over roll down your windows, turn off your engine and put your keys on the dash or your roof where the cop can see it. hands on the dash as well. I bought my car with tints on it and asked a cop what i should do. My tints aren't that dark but my car is white so it looks darker than it really is. I like the way my car looks so i dont plan on taking them off until i get forced to.

Not everyone listens to roll your window down, my friend tells me stories all the time when hes on the job, alot of nut cases out there, but its just the state rather have more safety for their officers.

its true however when they refuse to listen the call for backup goes in and the car dosent get approached till they get there.....if they still refuse usually it becomes a felony stop where they have to get out of the car and walk backwards towards the cruiser. if they still dont listen, well....its not pretty but patience and a calm head usually wins

I got pulled over for tints. A second police car came. Find someone with non-tinted windows before inspection.

New Jersey's official stance on it is "nothing in front of the driver's shoulders."

In my experience, it's not worth it. I've got 15% all around and I got stopped within 2 hours of leaving the tint shop. This was in Feb. in Medford Lakes. That was one ticket.

However, I've been stopped twice in Clementon for it, let me go once and ticked one other time.

Evesham also got me the other day and let me go since I'm "a resident...and I'm in the area of *insert home street here* a lot and I'm going to be keeping an eye one it. Get rid of it."

So you gotta figure 6 months, 4 stops. 2 tickets, $54 each... and the hassle of standing out in my home town...let alone the $300 I was charged for all 4 doors, rear window, sunroof and top of windshield...

so the tickets are $54 dollars? Also have you ever just wine down your windows whenever you see the cops? but i just you coulndt it was in Feb.

Lastly it cost $300 for tints of 4 wins, strip, sun and rear window? Where did you go?

yeah, but sometimes they're hiding, or they don't go down fast enough, or I forget about it...and it's too late. but usually, yes. my right hand has become a pro of springing off of the shifter onto the steering wheel when my left darts over to the window controls.

I went to Arizona Tinting and Lettering on Rt. 38 in Maple Shade. Lifetime warranty, nice guys, high quality tint film. The only problems that I had with them is that they only have 5% 15% and 35% non-mirror and the rear window has 5 or 6 tiny little bubbles no bigger than a pinhead in a couple spots (looks like there was just some dust up there that got caught). and I wanted 20-25%. and I think that's my main problem...is that it's pretty dark.

I'm willing to bet a paycheck that if it were lighter, I wouldn't be getting as much of a hassle from the cops. But hey, they're just doing their job...and if I were one, I'd be a little weary walking up to a vehicle that I couldn't see into. That's why whenever I get stopped, everything goes down, including the sunroof.

I know a lot of people that live in PA and come over to Jersey a lot...none of them have ever been stopped here for tint because of the PA tag.

I would think they might pull you over in case they are not sure of what the laws in PA are for tinting, check them through the radio, and then let you go on your merry way. Not before asking you if you have been drinking ofcourse...

Wow you all are lucky. Fines for windows tint being darker than 35% on any of the windows are $170 in TN. However, I've never known anyone who has gotten pulled over for their tint being too dark. Some of my friends have 5% and they haven't been pulled over or anything. The only thing that worries me is getting pulled over for speeding or something and the officer adding the dark tint into the situation.

the law in PA is nothing under 75% for tinting. The laws not really enforced though. And When I do see cops, I just put the windows down. It sucks in the winter though.
