Maxima Seems Slow? (Video)

Today I pulled up next to a Prelude, and the guy was reving his little (stock) Vtec, anyways I really didnt want to race him but, i did lol... I creamed him but my car felt really slow, I dont normally go over 4000RPM so its been a while since I'v pushed my car hard... So the next light I took a video with my phone, see what you think, I also noticed it looks like my acceleration slowed for a sec right before 2000RPM. The car is a 96 Auto with 83K no CEL or anything, and my idle has seemed a little low, so i took a pic just had an oil change yesterday, so idk what to think. Thanks for the help!

I dont consider maximas slow, my last car (also my first car )was a 92 Mazda Protege, it had some kick to it but nothing like my max. But I dont consider a maxima the fastest thing on the road either :P

Thats all not at all true. I guess you missed the years when the maxima was known as the family rocket or back when the 4th Gens were still new, when the Max really had no competition, stock. Also 5.5-6th Gens Gens take almost everything in its class as well (FWD Sedans). But anyways I dont argue with morons cause " they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." - Fellow Orger

Get a dyno to see if it really is low on power, or.. 'slower'.

Hahaha your 18 years old dude, you have no idea what fast is. How about you sit in my buddies 01 trans-am with a stroker engine and 175 shot. When your neck snaps and stays pinned to the seat and the cars *** is all over the place then you know what fast is. Our cars are slow. Enough said.

Maximas are hella slow, it needs to be supercharged just to be decently fast, but then I doubt it will be reliable, maybe time to get a 2000+ car, wish I had a job...

look I may be 18, but I dont have wrinkles, my risk of cancer is still low and I'm not on my way to becoming a complete @sshole yet. But it sure as hell has nothing to do with my level of knowledge AT ALL.

The maxima may not be fast okay, but if you're gonna be complete dumb @sses as far as cars that aren't yours then I think I may know what fast is, my dad has a Honda VTX1800 Neo (12 sec), my friend andrew 240sx (10.8 sec), and lastly my aunts ex husband (NZ) who has a V35 350GT TT thats rockin 650 to the wheels, damn fast as well. So please don't insult my intelligence on a forum it makes you look retarded for making an observation on someone you dont know, cant see, or know any background on.

Look I never said the maxima was the fastest car, my context was to say the maxima can be fast and N/A its not slow, go drive an accord or any other v6 of the same year thats N/A, or even now the 5.5 and 6th Gen still stand as great stock running cars (FWD). As far as the Trans am wher the hell did that come from, sit down.

Ricer? - right.......

I'm not here to argue, Im here to learn about my car and I love it very much. When ppl crack on something I have that amount of pride in then it tends to get ugly regardless. I think its stupid that we have these deabte and how we deliberate on such stupid things.. and I participate, I'm sorry that alot of orgers have to read this.

lol you guys are comparing 4th gens to today's modern cars.. what a bunch of queers... you didn't think technology would improve 10 years later? compare the 4th gen to cars that were made in it's day.. compare modern cars to other modern cars..not a car that's 10 years old

gotta throw my 2 cents in, a maxima is neither slow nor fast. For all of you tough guys who think they know what fast is whopdido. put a stinkin sock in it your words are just as good as mine so shut up. Also for all of the people that are saying a maxima is slow, try WALKING next time. maybe that will be faster. Dont EVER SAY A MAXIMA IS SLOW. because your confused with what slow is. Basicly you can't just say something when it comes to speed you have to compare. therefore all of you are wrong.
example
GEO METRO=slow, maxima= fast
maxima=slow, Ferrari=fast. well more like a F430 modena

I bet a maxima is faster than what the average person drives, so therefore a maxima is quick, but not fast whateva that means.

its 2 am dont hate me

Considering it is quicker/faster than many cars in showrooms right now that was pretty unintelligent.

How about an example: 2005 Acura TSX MT

Autoweek, 8/03 - 7.38 sec.
Car&Driver, 7/03 - 7.2 sec.
Car&Driver, 10/04 - 7.5 sec.

Now I am in no way a mag racer but I recall seeing 6.7 as the result almost 100 years ago when they tested the Maxima. Also the brand new Si, which is a "sporty" car is slower than our POS's hahaha.

you obviously completely missed my point which was for a car that's 10 years old it can still handle it's own out there. obviously there will be cars out here 10 years later that are faster than the maxima but that's what happens when technology improves 10 years later.

sure it's faster than other cars out on the market.. but there's other family sedans that haul *** now too as well (which should be expected given they're "modern" cars)

examples include the new camry and accord as well as the mazdaspeed6
