Best short ram intake?

Wuts up guys. I've decided to go ahead and replace my stock air intake and exhaust. I'm just trying to save money on gas so i dont need anything too extreme. i just wanted some opinions about what you think are some of the best short ram intakes out there. any suggestions?

mazzivart be careful, once you start reading the older threads the newer ones will seem repetitive and unintelligent.

I honestly can thing of a couple things I was thinking about doing and I put them in the search for kicks and *suprise* people were doing the same kind of tinkering in 2002-2003. Sometimes it is just interesting, and sometimes it just saves me a big pain in the ass.

Without having everyone chime in with their smartass takes any further, look into either a place racing CAI or just drop in a k&n/blitz filter and keep it stock. The stock maxima intake is actually quite well made. And dont take out the resonator. It actually helps w/turbulence.

this topic has been talked about alot, these new threads do seem very repetitive sometimes.

my .02 cents -- i love my weapon r dragon intake, its loud, but i love the growl it makes. some people cant handle it, but i love it.
I may actually buy a 25$ true cold air intake (that goes in the fender) off ebay, and put my weapon r filter on it, because those filters suck.
I would say get a cheap CAI off ebay, and then put a good filter on it.

Do not ever buy ANYTHING from BOMZ.

And yes, all short rams sound basically the same unless the filter is particularly restrictive.

Fr33way must have a modified gas tank with less capacity than mine. Maybe you have a refinery in your back yard or the gas is priced really low where ever it is you live but it takes 50-60 bucks out west to fill her up with premium.

Why don't you crybabies sell your cars then.

I've managed to not have to sell myself for gas money thus far....

If you can't afford gas, get a bike. EVERYONE else buys gas for their cars to and (OMGz!) some of them make worse milage than ours.

heres a website that has weapon r
http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/w...ntakes/nissan/
i dont think i bought it from here, but im not quite sure, i forgot. if you shop around a little, you may find them a little cheaper somewhere else.
IMHO, the dragon filter works really well, filters out everything perfectly, and i love the sound of the intake. some people told me the weapon r is louder than other intakes, i.e. bomz, frankencar. im not sure, i think that all shortrams are generally the same loudness. the WR Dragon has a vortex generator thingy in the midpipe, which is cool.

a nice drag racing setup is using a frankencar midpipe type setup, may be ebay copies now , unsure, then buy an odyssey lightweight racing battery, during racing remove your clearance light.

i personally would like to go back to the stock setup but i dont have any of the old parts, would be cool to dyno that setup verus my frankencar midpipe and k&N filter, just to see.

i have also used the injen setup and low and behold my car pinged during the summer months, wasnt to found of that, sure was a shame though because the darn setup looked so good. but now a days im back to function over fashion.

hey do me a big favor though, try and find a dyno day in your area, usually something like 50 bucks for a few pulls, get some numbers and then put on the midpipe setup and wait around for another cheap day.

i would really like to see the difference.

only other positives would be some engine bay noise from aftermarket filters, thats kinda cool.

what's wrong with bomz intakes? i was gonna get one and then just replace the bomz filter with a k&n. would it leave me enough place to leave the intake resonator? i hear its gets really loud if you take it off.

BOMZ often uses very very cheap materials, and many of their products have had fitment issues that make you wonder whether they're actually correct for the applications. They are just another ultra-budget brand for people who don't know the difference.

i can appreciate your concerns...but i havent seen anyone on THIS application (bomz short ram maxima)...that have had issues. That isnt to say that BOMZ might not have elsewhere, for other cars, but its possible they focus more heavily on a given automobile segment.

Meaning, they spend more time designing things for maximas knowing that they are a large portion of their revenue. Just a thought.

On a side note, I have only heard a frankencar, seeing as that VQ power has some vids posted online.

From what I have heard, its the midpipe that makes that growl. So since every pipe is basically the same structure, shouldnt they all sound similar?
