Another Question - Transmission Oil Cooler
Living in NY...will this help me or will it hurt me during the cold months? I'm going to be swapping in a 70kmi motor and transmission from my parts car soon and figured I'd do this while I was up to that. For someone living in NY with an Automatic....what would be the pro's and con's of a transmission oil cooler? I used the search function but the posts only talked about the general stuff (what it does)...and I was looking for more details into my particular situation.
for regular use, a small to medium cooler will work.i've had a small car cooler on my car for a couple of years, the winters in the DC area are not that severe..usually. i mounted mine so it is not fully exposed to the grille opening. the summers are brutal..you know..hi heat & humidity. when the atf is checked, it's clean, red & no sign of "burnt smell". i sometime need to get "some gas off of my chest", so it's not always babied. works for me. oh yeah, when it's very cold the cooler may cause some slightly longer times until she shifts normal. other than that it's "all good". lower temp in trans= longer life. while you'''re at switch to synthetic atf if you don't already use it. amsoil or mobil 1
