Can anybody help with my problem: the problem is when im on the highway at speeds of around 50 plus mph the ac blows cold but when i slow down the cars ac gets really warm.
I took it to a shop and talked to a mechanic and he said it sounds like i had low refriderant so i added a can. I also brought one of the lowside pressure gauges from the local auto store, the guage is showing its in the alert zone but not the danger zone around 61 psi. but the problem still existes so i thought i would check my buddys 96 max with the guage to see what his low side port read. Not to mention his AC blows very well and cold, so i checked his, it was around 100 psi acording to my guage which is in the read zone saying danger on the meter but he has no problems with his ac system. so im wondering what the psi reading should be from my low side connection on the ac system and if it could be something else like the clutch on the compressor and if it is the clutch it that repairable or does the whole compressor need to be replaced?

I have the same exact problem and I've had my system evacuated and refilled 2 times. Had the pressure switch replaced and still getting the same problem. Maybe the expansion valve? I'm taking my car into the shop the next hot day.
Begin to clean the condenser with compressed air or with a water hose. Clean from the inside, and shoot water through condenser.
It can fix your problem cause when you run on highway there's a big air flow through it but when you're stuck in traffic the only air circulation comes from the A/C fan. If the condensor is stuck with dirt, air can't come through correctly.

100 psi~? that is crazy.... doesnt that sound liek to anyone as too HIGH a pressure...
you need to get your A/C line to get evacuated (emptied)
do you hear your AC compressor turning on?
about the highway thing... you prolly have LOW pressure and just NEED to recharge your AC... the reason why it would blow cold on the highway is because at highway speed your getting more colder air over your compressor than when your car isnt at highway speed
PM me if you need more help with the AC, i can explain in more detail

I have the same problem and was told that the ac compresor was not working properly. So now I need to find a new one but they are so expensive. I usually have to keep my car rev up in order to stay cool at stop lights.
same problem here a while back. Compressor was going bad. Start with a evacuate and refill at a shop. It will clean out the system and put the correct amount back in. If that doesn't work you'll be changing out the compressor, expansion valve, and filter/drier.
