Problems installing CAI in a 97 Max
Problems installing CAI in a 97 Max
I purchased a cheap CAI kit on Ebay for my 97 Maxima. The kit came without any instructions whatsoever so I had to figure out myself how to install one. I went to FAQ page and found this guide how to install "place racing" CAI kit. So, I followed directions from that website and I came up with some mutant looking setup that does not fit under my hood even with a battery removed. I tried different variations but still was unable to install properly.
Here is the picture of my unsuccessful installation. Anu ideas how it supposed to look like?

I purchased the kit from this guy.

Well, that kit you have is a knock off of the real deal, so the instructions will apply.
There is a template you can get from Cattman, I have it but its at work so I cant send it until Monday.
Who was that somebody else they are not very smart then.

a cheap short ram will be in the bay, a CAI needs to be in the fender for the, you guessed it, cold air. Rotate the elbow the 90 degress and you will see where the hole goes. The link to geocities already posted has the information you need and then some.

Thanks Man!
I went to Cattman's website and their CAI kit looks "almost" ideantical to one I have. So the installation instructiuons should be almost the same as well. I'll be waiting for the instructions.

you have to cut a hole in your hood, and have the filter stick out. It's a snorkel in case you go over any deep puddles. if you read closely it says "for off-road use only".
I almost fell out of my chair when i saw that pic.
