5th gen clutch just installed

just got my 5th gen clutch installed and it feels awesome, havent pushed the car at all because i still have to break it in. one thing i noticed is, i think i have a bit of clutch chatter when i take off in 1st gear, almost like a shudder or something. Is that normal? the clutch has like 4kms on it right now just test driven, will it go away after a bit more driving? other then that no complaints, the isntall went perfect, ran into no problems at all. thanks for all the help

It will probably not go away, but sometimes it does. Definitely avoid chattering it, but be careful to not slip it like crazy.

Did you get the flywheel recut?

well, i dont know exactly if it is chatter, it like 99% gone away, still does it a tiny bit in reverse. before when it first did it, when id go to take off i think the revs went up to around 2000rpm, then i took off, it would chatter a bit when i rode the clutch, but it only does it when your somewhat riding the clutch, like taking off slowly. it does it a bit in reverse but very little if non in 1st gear. I will have to see if nissan had hte flywheel cut, usually id do this type of stuff myself, but i havent had the time lately. good chance the flywheel wasnt cut, if not, then its going right back and there gunna fix it.

HomerMac- i have the whole 5th gen clutch kit, pressure plate, clutch disk, and TO bearing

Do you find that it is better than the normal 4th gen clutch?

How difficult was it to do?

im still breaking the clutch in, still only has about 30km on it, but so far i love how it feels, id definately reccomend this to anyone whos going to be doing the clutch anyways. The clutch bolted up just like the original, no mods required. The chatter problem has basically gone away, 1st gear it doesnt do it anymore, and it only does it a tiny bit in reverse. I think after a few more kms it will go away.

Sounds good. I did a clutch job and was unable to get the flywheel resurfaced, and waited to see if the chatter went away. IMO, if it takes more than a couple of days to disappear, it's not going away ever.

As far as I know, Nissan dealerships will not resurface flywheels. Your clutch is probably just getting worn into the surface of the flywheel. I had to take my clutch into a tranny shop to resurface it. They even recommended shaving the outside a little more than the friction surface.

Nissan should resurface them. It's part of almost any clutch install. Doesn't make sense if they don't. But I guess anything is possible with the stealership.
