A few folks were commenting on the chase scenes in the movie The Fast and the Flatulent...

My favorite movie chase scene of all time has to be the one from the Steve McQueen movie BULLITT. What's your favorite movie chase scene?

Please advise...

Ronin M5 and Peugot was good. Gone in 60 GT500 was so/so. My mother tells me "French Connection" had some pretty tight chases.

Easy, no contest. "The Italian Job" with Michael Caine. The chase scene with the Mini Coopers through the streets, sidewalks, tunnels, on top of the buildings is just fantastic.

BTW, can't wait for the new Mini to come out at my local BMW dealer soon. Have to wait for the "S" version though

Cheers

I'm going with BrianV on this one, the Ronin M5 vs. Peugeot scene.

I always liked the one from the orignal gone in 60 seconds in the mustang mach 1, it was the longest i ever saw, the new gone in 60 seconds chase seen was pretty wild, but parts of it seemed too unrealistic

Yeah, Bullitt, with Steve McQueen. It's my favorite cuz it's set in San Francisco, and since that's where I lived most of my life, the sites are familiar (such as the Marina Safeway). The unrealistic part is that they are on Doyle Drive and then somehow they get out into the countryside, where of course, the bad guys flip their car (or crash it, I forget).

What about the chase scene in The Rock? I thought the Ferrari/Hummer was decent, not quite realistic but entertaining nonetheless...

No one beats Bond, that is James Bond, alias 007. Pick a movie and guaranteed there's a chase that will raise the hair on your neck. These flics were thrillers galore. Too bad Maxima wasn't invented then. It would have brought any chase to a higher pain/thrill level.

Bullitt......

Yeah. I agree, Bullitt. It might be because I lived in the area at the time (Mare Island Navy Base) when the movie was being shot and after seeing the movie chase, drove over much of the route. Much slower of course in my 1960 Plymouth Savoy 2dr.

Ditto on Ronin, S8 or A8 I forget but its an Audi for sure. In the movie line it has nitrous ... if you look real carefull at the scene when they are loading the car up you'll notice that they have the nitrous bottle installed backwards.

That was an S8 in ronin, not an M5. The E39 M5 wasnt even out (thought it may have been in europe, i dont know) when that movie was made. That S8 had nitrous by the way, at least according to the movie it did... i dont know if they REALLY installed nitrous in it... doubt it. Thats my favorite chase scene... another one that sticks in my mind is the one in Bullitt and in the Val Kilmer/ Elizabeth Shue movie the Saint.

You're both right. The main car is an S8 with nitrous. But towards the end, there is definitely a great chase scene with an M5. It's nice, but I like the new generation M5 better (duh). That S8 is really sweet, too.

The M5 is being chased by DeNiro and Reno in some French car.. Citroen or Peugeot. Don't get me wrong, the French make some very fast cars, but lordy, they be ugly. It's a shame how that chase ends up. I think the chase with the S8 is far better though. Plus the scene after the botched gun deal with the S8 driving through Paris drifting like only AWD can.... god I love that movie.

Ronin.

Nothing beats the camera shot off the bumper of the Audi as it's flying through European streets at night. The sound ain't bad either.

Bad Boys

The Bad Boys Porsche 911 Twin Turbo Vs. Shelby Cobra...

Ahhh....911 Twin Turbo!

The whole movie was funny as hell, but that was the best chase scene.

.....You're wrong. It is an M5.

Hey this may not be in the same category, but don't forget the chase scene in Nothing But Trouble, where Chevy Chase has the phat-a$$ Bimmer and he tried to outrun that cop. It's pretty funny, and that Bimmer looks tight, even though it's old.

Good old Miami Vice...

There were quite a few scenes from that show I liked. One of them was the white Ferrari Testarossa chasing the Lamborghini in the streets of Miami. Another one was the older black Ferrari chasing the Porsche. No more of these goodies....

Nah, they show re-runs here in ATL of Miami Vice. It's funny b/c Miami Vice and Nash Bridges(?) came on at the same time so you could watch Don Johnson on 2 channels at once.

And in Ronin (just watched again last night) that does look like an older 540 but I can't be sure. An awesome movie.

Can't believe nobody mentioned the longest hot pursuit I can remember. First you had two Illinois state trooper chasing Jake & Elwood inside the shopping mall.

Then you had a good 30 min of everything but the kitchen sink chasing them through downtown Chicago.

Remember lower Wacker drive scenes showing 100mph+ under the tracks? The film wasn't sped up - the DVD shows how they used people walking on the sidewalks to add reference speed.

Bullett is the grandfather of chase schenes. You gotta love that Mustang fastback image popping up in the bad guys rear view mirror and the way the stuntman took out a camera at a parked car.

But check out "The Seven Ups" with Roy Schieder; most realistic chase scene ever. The abrupt ending is awesome. Also, a movie "Gumball Rallye" has a number of racing scenes but the best is a race between the AC Cobra and the Ferrari in the mountains at night.

My wife just bought me an HDTV and a DVD player, and among the first movies I bought was Ronin. DVD on the big screen, it's UNBELIEVABLE.

Definitely the best chase scenes I've ever seen. The best part is when DeNiro pulls a righthand 270 because the left turn would have been too tight. Absolutely priceless.

MMMMMMMMMMM TWIN TURBO, I must admit that sence was badass but the two sences with the S8 in Ronin were just awesome, I love the first one where it's drifting, but when they show the bumper view and the AWD justs pulls the car and you see it working perfectly the car is just ripping around the corner, almost hopping!! truely badass seen with a badazz car, left the cops in the dust, and also i must say the race between the Supra and the Ferrari F355 Spyder was great cause you hear that Ferrari rev like crazy, just a really high picthed wine! gotta love the sound of a Ferrari V8

That was an M5 in Ronin. If it wasn't then it was an 5 seris with an M5 badge in the back. I'm positive about this. It was a 91-94 M3 not the new one, but still something like 350 HP and some great driving.

Actually. Gone had the worst story in history. Ronin's storyline is actually good. I believe you have to be familar w/ the polictial situation in Europe to appreciate the story.

Ronin definately. Reason. One of the longest UNCUT car scenes I have watched. You guys know how hard or how good you have to be to directly such long running scenes? Very tough. Mess up once and you gotta set up again for probably a few days. Ie.. Ronin M5, Peugot on the freeway going the wrong way.
