Just Purchased

Hello guys

I had A 1996 Gle my sister crashed it . i drove a 98 camry which was great but a few days ago i got back to the Maxima Game . i purchased a 2003 SE with 120k on it for 3k. I love this generation its by far my favorite. i have a few things wrong with the car that i would like to ask you for suggestions on .

1. the tachometer gets stuck in weird places. i have to shut the car off for it to go back down. and its never showing the actual speed of the engine.

2. the sunroof has to be opened in sections . meaning if i push the button it doesn't open or close all the way . i have to take my finger off and push the button 4 or 5 times for it to open or close fully.

3. the passenger side window rolls all the way up but when i take my finger off the button it rolls back down about 6 inches. the only way to keep it up is to hold the up button lock then unlock the windows.

other than that its a very clean car, runs and shifts smooth. cant even tell its on thats how quiet it is. i loved my 96 but this is a big step forward and much faster .

any suggestions on the 3 topics i presented or anything else you guys would like to advise me i would greatly appreciate it .

Thank you

Re. #1: Most likely, the needle gets stuck on the overlay/cover. Tap it, remove the cover if necessary, and try to straighten it out. If this is not the problem, perhaps you have a faulty Crank sensor. However, this does not appear very likely since your engine runs fine.

Re. #2: It could be the sun roof switch, or the sun roof motor, or the mechanicals. Check out the "Sunroof" sections in both the BT and EL volumes of the FSM. You can get the FSM from here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2003/ .

Re. #3: Looks like the limit switch on your door needs to be reset. Remove the inside door panel and look towards the front bottom of the door behind the plastic vapor barrier; you'll see a small black switch, that could be confused for a larger screw head. The resetting procedure has been described on this forum, just search for it. (You have to close the door while holding the switch, and few other things that I don't exactly remember).

#2 The push button works the tilt function and will open or close it in small amounts.

The slide switch to the left of the push button switch opens or closes it with one slide of the switch.
