How can you tell if you need just the window regulator without the motor?

Can i tell without removing my door panel? I can hear my motor working. but the window doesnt go up or down (it actually goes down a little but stops) can i just get the regulator w/o the motor?

both my back windows are like that, u really dont need a motor since its workin but nissan uses these cheap plastic pieces that break off eventually on the motor, theres a round metal piece that is supose 2 catch the plastic piece but since its broken off it cant, if u got money then u can go head and spend it 2 get a whole new motor but its not really nessasary cause I managed to fix mine by aligning it right for the round metal piece to catch the window and now my window works even without the pieces, u have to take tha door panel off if u attempt to align it urself

Dude, I would say, take out the door panel and make sure there is nothing that is restricting the window movement before dumping $$ into it. I had taken mine apart after similar problem check out thread below.

To answer your question, can you get a regulator without the motor? Ebay has a bunch of them but they seem to be regulator and motor. For the price, I would just replace both if I had to do it to avoid hassles later on. Just my $.02
