Question to all HID guys

I'm going to buy HID kit but i think it will create a small issue, in Canada there is always running lights (hi beam small voltage) so i think i'll lose that with HID. Unfortunately i don't have a fog lights witch i could've rewired to make them work like a running lights. I sure can turn my HID on when i'm driving the car but i don't really want to burn my kit when it's not neccesary.
So guys what can i do about that?
Anyone had the same problem?

I really wouldn't attempt to wire up your true DRL's (lower power) with the HID's, could create issues. I personally wouldn't want my headlights on all the time, either, you'll kill the bulbs much quicker.

Yeah, can't you just block off the wire to trigger the high beam?

If you run your DRL with HID, you will probably end up with quite a few headaches.
To avoid this with my HID kit, I ended up cutting off my DRL. (to see how to do this --> http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=150955 )

Now for when my car goes in for inspection, They would give me a hard time for no DRL, so I wired up a switch that is connected to a relay that kicks them on when my key is "on". So I leave the switch off and don't have DRL's, but when I take it in, I just hit the switch and they dont' say anything because it's a light in the front of the car that automatically comes on when the car is running.

Hope that helps.

Interesting, I'm from Canada and I don't have DRL on my 99 Maxima. When I went in for inspection, they said nothing about the DRl too. Just disconnect for DRL like mentioned above, or go all the way and get bi-xenon projectors and do the retrofit.
