Tell the cop that you are just on your way to Mexico where you are going to legally buy drugs and beer because the laws are too screwed up in California.

I've never heard of that problem, as long as you have amber lights I'd imagine that you'd be ok, none of my friends that have the clear corners have heard anything about them from the local police, but I live in KY, and you could probably drive a nascar down the street and not get hasseled by the police.

and cops dont need a warrant to search your car. they just need "reasonable doubt".

The police need a warrant or the owners/drivers consent. Reasonable doubt is what a defense attorney wants to exhibit for the jury so his/her defendant will be found not guilty.

technically, a cop does need a warrant or driver consent to search a vehicle, unless theres somehting in plain view in your car (ie a gun in your back seat or somehting), but when it really comes down to it, they can pretty much do as they please on a traffic stop. In any court situation it will be your word against theirs. I remember a few years ago, my buddy and i got pulled over on our way to a campsite for speeding, the cop saw a beer bong in the back of his explorer and proceded to rip apart the entire car looking for god only knows what. Basically he cited my friend for like 3 more things that were found while searching the vehicle. He never got a warrant or consent.

Just because something says DOT approved doesnt mean anything. The manufacturer can put just about what ever they want on there. I can take a dump in a box and write D.O.T. on it. Check your local laws. In Texas you wont pass inspection with DC Clears. They have to be amber/orange. My friend is a certified state inspector.

i think its garbage that he checked under your hood. . . . i would go off on a ****in pig for that ****. but as far as the lights and whatev im used to being pulled over. probably about 6 times for stupid **** when they should be watchin for drunk drivers.
one time they pulled me over for "illegal license plate light color" they said it was too blue. 3 fcukin cops were pulled over at 3 in the morning and it took them over an hour. it was up the road, literally 2 min from my house, and i had been drivin all over the valley that night
I've been pulled over for the color of my rear signals cuz i had red bulbs once and the cops wife had a max like mine and he said the stock color was orange, cuz i told him stock was red. fcukin cops are stupid. I've been pulled over about 13 times in this car alone and only got one ticket. F U C K 'E M

oh and if i remember right, when i got my dc clears from custom max, they had a paper that said something about "off-road use only". pretty sure that means you're not supposed to run them on the street

Suburban cops are slacking sissies with WAY too much time on their hands. Same with troopers. They haven't fought actual crime in CENTURIES!

But if you're bumping down the street like a punk. I hope they frisk you, impound your car and give you a year in jail..Cant stand that garbage.

I couldn't agree more. I got pulled over because my headlight was out but I don't think they really needed pull 4 cop cars out to tell me my headlight was blown. Yea they let me go with a warning but bringing that many cops out for that is ridiculous. People driving by probably thought I was a mass murderer not to mention he made me turn off my vehicle, took my keys and asked me questions like "do you have any weapons on you or in your vehicle that I should know about?", "Do you have any drugs?". After they spent 20 min eyeing down my car trying to get me for something they didn't notice my illegal bumper lights oh well! While cops in the suburbs are putting away serious traffic law violators hundreds of people are getting killed in the city and getting away with it.

Look guys you need an amber/orange reflector up front, end of story. No need to argue about a LAW and about who gets pulled over for what, and that cop is a bish.... If you have clears on the front its ILLEGAL, no if ands or buts.

BTW the only car to my knowledge with no reflector up front is a Subaru Legacy from the early 90's. However it has a amber reflector on the fender near the door.

Meh, they dont stick out as much, but they still fit like crap. My favorite is a lightly tinted stock amber lens.

Does this mean that the Cefiro one-piece headlights could be construde as being illegal, since they do not have any amber reflectors in them?

He said as long as he firmly or whoever believes that they aren't at fault. In that case, the cop is not doing his job...he's just bored and trying to bust someone for something stupid. I'd talk back aswell if I knew I had connections and that the cop was 100% wrong. Some people go on power trips when they get jobs like that...and yes, I know not all cops are the same...but some of them really aren't doing their job.

Brother, any update for us? Did you bring your Max for inspection or you want to sue the officers for harassment?

The Fremont police really sucks. Some young kids (which look like Latino gangsters) play really loud boom in their vehicle around my house. I called the PD and they said that they won't respond to such trivial thing due to lack of budget. I highly doubt where are the tax money I paid. Anyway I wish I can shoot these rude people.

Listen to your local law enforcement.

This is what a local cop told me after I asked him at a gas station. He said they didn't ever pay attention to them though.

sadly with most of the fix-it ticket situations it is up to the officers, and courts(if you try and fight it) discretion on how to interpret the law. Some officers will cite you for any aftermarket modification, and give the reason that if it did not come originally from the manufacturer that way (i.e. OEM) then it is not legal , some on the other hand wouldn't waste their energy stopping you for such a small thing. Luckily we have groups like SEMA and other aftermarket parts manufacturers fighting in court so they can't do that (hence the 90db rule for exhaust in CA)

EDIT: they changed that decible law in california. It now says that it is up to the officers discretion and they don't have to use the db meter to justify giving you a ticket

on the street racing thing I heard that san diego police will PERMANENTLY impound your car if you are found street racing(in other words, you forfeit your car to them).

I hear that. I got a ticket in Townsend, which is in blount county where I live. My family knows a lot of blount county police so he was trying to get my ticket fixed, because it would make his and my insurance go up because it is on the same plan. Townsend is now making me do 4 hours of community service washing their police cars tommorrow to get rid of the ticket. haha. They only have like 3 police cars I think.

Then I guess the current generation Altima is illegal altogether. There's no yellow reflector. The only yellow you see from the front is a bulb in each headlamp.

You should have demanded a ticket just so you could go before a judge and make the officer look like an idiot.

They only had one working today, the sheriff <-- I suppose. I worked for 2.5 hours cleaning out the dirting inside of one of the cars with windex and paper towels. I would do that again over a ticket anyday.

it's alot cheaper!!!!
But really doesn't that sound like something they would do in mayberry.
Andy: "Ryan go clean my car, we can't have a criminal like you not paying for his crimes"
Barney: "You've got to nip it!!"
so you let yourself out of the jail cell (like otis) and go clean the car
