The brake light in the dash of my '97 will not turn off, and it is quite annoying. Before I take it to the dealership, does anyone no a easy way to fix or at least check where the problem might be? Thanks-

three things....

1. Brake light bulb is burnt out...have a friend check while you press and release the petal.

2. E-Brake is on.

3. Low brake fluid level in the resevoir.

This happened to me when I did a brake job last month on my 97. All I did was disconnect the ground on the battery for a few minutes. Connected it again at everything was good to go!

if your brakes pads are very low, your piston sticks much farther out of the caliper than it normally does, meaning there is more fluid in the LINES and less fluid in the resevior. this can cause the brake light to come on. try checking the fluid level.

My '99 GXE does #2 and #3, but not #1. I just tried it to be sure. Please check your car and post the results.
