lowering springs

I know there are a million threads, but id like to get a definative answer to my question. I hate how my maxima sits stock, it looks like its ready to go do some off roading. I want a substantial drop, and so far what ive read tein s techs provide the best drop, but that comes with a price, ride quality. I like the look of a lowered car, and i know my maxima would look 100x better lowered. the car will be driven almost every day, the roads here are pretty good so i shouldnt have to worry as much.
1. What springs would you reccomend?

2. What struts would you recomend?

3. is it okay to run the stock struts temporarily on any of these mentioned springs?

4. I am running stock wheels for now, but plan on upgrading to 18x8.5 Work Emotion CR KAI's with the +38 off set. Will these wheels work fine or will it require some work?

Thanks

Since the roads aren't too bad, you could go with the teins. I'd pair them with adjustable shocks(illuminas,AGX). The 18" rims should fit fine as long as you get the right size tire. If you want a fully adjustable suspension you can spend a little more money and buy some coilovers. This wouldn't be too bad of an idea since the roads aren't bad by you. You can raise and lower the vehicle when you want to and also adjust the dampening. It all depends on what you value more, comfort or looks/handling.

Here is a site to help you decide what you want to do. Check out the shocks and the springs descriptions/characteristics.

I like how happyricefob's car sits, thats ideally the drop id like. After reading those reveiws, it says 2.2" drop front, 1.8" rear. I read the review about the Sprint springs and they have a 2 inch drop all around, and said some people complain about driveshafts wearing out quicker because of the extreme angle, so would that not make the tein s techs more succeptable to wearing out the driveshafts? Also it mentioned about camber plates, will i need them with the s techs or should i be fine? I think AGX and s-techs or illuminas and s-techs are my choice!

I've heard H-tech and illuminas pair well. Good ride and just enough drop. Anyone running this setup that can confirm?

I had H-techs and Illuminas on my 96. It was a fairly comfortable ride depending on how you had the Illuminas set but was still good bit harsher than stock comfort. Handling was improved over stock, but probably not to the level of other springs or anywhere near coilovers. The drop looked good, but did not look slammed.

Once one goes the lowered route they have to remember that there are trade-offs. You get the look but you also give up the original stock ride and also you have to upgrade your shocks. If you look at the maxmods link above it'll give you a good review of all of the available springs and shocks on the market with comments and experiences from current owners.

Your asking a loaded question. Suspension is really subject to opinion. What is acceptable for to one driver is hated by another. I love the look of the S-techs, however if I had it to do over I would just spend more and get coilovers. The combo of a soft short spring and a stiff shock works ok part of the time, but it sucks 20% of the time. A little more money and coilovers will work right 100% of the time.

I'm in Connecticut, the roads here are TERRIBLE. I'll live with the wheel gap and my stock SE springs for a more comfortable ride.

I put on KSport lowering springs on my i30t with GR2 struts...2.2" in the front and 2" in the back drop...I love the handling, the car looks better, and overall the price was acceptable...don't put stock shocks on, they will blow, and you will have to do all the labor 2 times...
