Thanks and Farewell

The time has finally come for me to sell my 96 max. A few months ago, I bought my dreamcar, a 2k3 M3.

I just wanted to thank everyone who over the years has helped me with various questions and issues. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum that probably saved me hundreds of dollars I would have incurred at the dealership or the like. Good luck to everyone!

Haha, yeah I only use that when some meathead in an Evo wants to race me..youd be amazed at how much gas that button sucks..

My guess is that whoever buys my car won't want the mods, so Id be willing to sell the limited mods I have.. I will post in the for sale section, or PM me

as for pics of the M, http://ebay.carad.com/viewItem/viewA...57&template=48

THere is a 'sport' button on the M3 that increases throttle response considerably, hence giving you quicker acceleration

PS - any chance anyone could hook me up with a CARFAX?

I'll admit, I was as skeptical as anyone about Ebay. However, I looked for 6 months in the DC area and a comparably equipped one would have cost me 42 or 43k here. The place I got it from deals exclusively on the internet, and people come from all over the country to buy. I ended up paying 36 for the M. I was pretty particular about my color combo/options etc. though. Had to go with the 19"s and the stick

I will def miss the max though, it kind of went downhill when I destroyed my 17"s on a pothole though

I actually ended up flying from DC to Chicago to get the car. I bought it from business on ebay, though, not a person. I talked to them on the phone, they explained their business model, sent me detailed pics of everythying wrong with it, etc. I also went through a pretty comprehensive checklist when I got there. All in all, I would say do your research. Im not sure that I would travel too far if its an independent seller. But the place I bought from had a near perfect rating history. And when you figure if one little thing is wrong with the car or is not as advertised, you might be inclined to leave negative or neutral feedback. Their record was impeccable, so I decided to check it out. I also benefitted from the fact that its still under factory warranty, so if there was anything wrong, it would be fixed for free. GL

Very nice choice in upgrade! Nothing like a pre-modded car, or should I say a car that doesn't need modded. I hope you never need repairs on that.

Hey...great car! Make sure you buy the extended warranty....those M3s have lots of things that require stealership visits! My brother has a 2002 M3 and is going to buy the extended plan soon. The dealership said it was the way to go since one of the required maintenance visits is a $1500 trip!

Yeah, thats next on my list. The extended maintenence warranty covers itself in one visit.

Did you say you got the manual shift or SMG? Buy a neck brace if you got that SMG, or just leave it in sport mode all the time....normal SMG mode is nasty! And be careful of those wheels...no room to bump curbs!

Dont hate, nobody likes post ******.

I got the manual, but yeah, extra careful when I parallel park. Just to be safe, I stay a good foot away from the curb
