to all people who have drilled & slotted rotors

specifically the Brembo ones off the GB on the org. (Axxis Ult. pads btw)

Are you having any problems with the rear rotors? I have a problem when I apply the brakes slighlty to slow down. I hear a loud groaning noise coming from the rear brakes. It happens pretty much most of the time when I just tap the brakes at lower speeds.

The problem developed when I took it back to my mechanic because of the pads rattling. At that time I had no problems whatsoever. He fixed it and then a couple days later, I found out that e-brake was really loose. It would take like 20 clicks to engage. So I took it back to him again and he took off everything and re-installed. This fixed the e-brake problem , but now I get this loud groaning noise from the rotors and there seems that something is rubbing when I make fast turns. I took it to 2 different mechanics and they said that the drills are causing that....

I really do not think so cuz the noise is really loud sometimes. It vibrates through the rear glass window.

anyone have an opinion?

thanks,

UPDATE: I changed out the pads and that got rid of the groaning noise. whats weird is that I used the same type of pads and that fixed the issue.

Now, this is making me go crazy. I still have the dragging noise. Its like a metallic rubbing. it only happens when I'm making turns at speeds less than 20 or when I accelerate from a stop till like 25. something is def. hitting the rotors or something.

is this a common issue with these types of rotors? i was wondering because i just noticed these and im going to replace mine in the near future. would these types of rotors + ceramic pads drastically improve my brake system? thanks

They will not shorten your distances but they will help with fading. The only thing that will shorten distances short of buying racing brakes, are better tires! The drilled rotors almost always make some noise with any pad but they are worse with some! I had EBC pads and they were very noisy! I now have a pad made by ENDLESS and they are great. As far as the other noise issue, it could be a shim problem. I would take the car to someone else and get a second opinion! Just incase! P.S. Did you break them in properly? This makes a huge difference!

Im having the same problem. I was told to break them in but so many people told me different strategies on how to break them in properly.

I would apply a good amount of anti squeel spray paint type of stuff to the back of the pads, maybe a couple of layers. Let it dry for about ten minutes and then reinstall pads. Be carefull no to get that stuff on the pad surface, I hold the pad with a paper towel gripped tightly around the sides so that nothing will drip or run down onto the pad material. The anti squeel stuff starts to harden within 15 seconds.

the brakes I have right now are much better than OEM's. and I did not re-use the shims since the new pads already had them . I also broke them in properly. Now I'm worried about getting new OEM rotors and pads with shims and still having the same problem.
I know that drilled rotors give off a whirring noise when the pad pulsates against the rotor. and for the metallic rubbing I get in the rear, I am not even applying the brakes. Could it be a frozen rotor? I haven't noticed any lealks or uneven pad wear.

thanks

hmm no idea whats wrong but i do haev a question. i apply that brake pad grease? to the outside of the pads and i still hear some screeching noises from my brakes. i mean when i apply the brakes lightly to slow down from say 40 to 20 its fine, but if i apply enough pressure to halt the car completely it squeels for about 2 seconds. anyone know what would be causing this? i heard about the shim situation and im not really sure what that is lol...

o and i replaced my brake pads about a week ago. i didnt have a c-clamp so i made the mistake of popping the piston or w/e that thing is out of the socket. i came up with the solution of unscrewing the brake line and i had air in my lines. i did however bleed both sides of my brake lines so they work properly now. i just want to get rid of the screeching noise, thanks.
