I have a 95 maxima and my starter went out recently, the casing is cracked so I can't get it rebuilt. I bought a new one, and the gear has 10 teeth rather than the 8-tooth gear on the old starter. I have called the dealer and asked them about it and they said they should be interchangeable, so are they? I am not sure about installing the new one because I don't want to break anything, but if it will work fine, then let me know. Thanks for all your help!!

 

They're interchangeable, and it will work better than the old unit.
