Thats the pad material causing that noise. It's actually normal for a full metal pad such as Axis Metal Masters. A freshly machined rotor will quiet that down, only until it becomes nice and smooth again.

On a percentage scale of 0-100 how sure are you? What about ceramic pads?

I ran Metal Masters for a while. They made that exact noise, even with x-drilled rotors. Didn't bother me, so I let them be. Since then I've switched to Wagner Thermal Quiet Ceramic pads. That noise is now gone.

I'd say I'm 100% sure.

I've changed the pad twice and still made the same noise. I am about to replace the rotors and pads. Any suggestions on brand? I don't need drilled or slotted ones. Just ones that does not make sounds like that.

check out the TSB on moaning brakes. Nissan sells a rear brake kit that keeps the rear pads away from the rotors.
