Executive Summary:

This is a pre-sale (sort of like a group deal) announcement for 10 complete sets of Cattman Performance 2nd generation Coilover Suspensions, and 5 gen1 --> gen2 upgrade kits (upgrades existing gen1 kits to gen2 specs); pre-sale prices reduced from $1800 to $1600 and $800 to $700, respectively.

Parts sold first come first serve, price returns to retail when these units are gone.

Price is not dependent on minimum number ordered and will be honored for all orders received.

First units are expected to begin shipping July 2, in order received. These suckers are heavy, flat rate shipping is $35.

[Distributor inquiries welcome in a couple of months.]

Some Details:

I'm pleased to say that finally, at along last, we're bringing the second generation Cattman Performance Coilover Suspension to market, with a projected ship date of July 2. This will be available as a complete set or as an upgrade for the gen1 coilover design (brings it up to full gen2 specs). The upgrade kit basically replaces (and adds several new features to) everything above the primary springs, and includes the very expensive Eibach ERS take-up springs in the front that lock all of those parts quietly together.

I'm doing an introductory pre-sale on these, offering discounted prices for the first 10 full coilover sets, reduced from $1800 to $1600, and the first 5 upgrade sets (marked down from $800 to $700). I know they're not cheap, but whether through an examination of the actual costs involved, or comparison with (truly) equivalent upper-end suspensions for other cars (there are no equivalent parts for the Maxima), they are very reasonable. [Ask a good machinist to estimate the CNC time on the billet aluminum camber plate I've provided a picture of, which is even more intricately machined underneath.]

Everything is included, from the very sophisticated overtower front camber plates to all of the necessary mounting bolts and hardware. Camber plates are always sold seperately from coilover systems, but I include them because 1) I believe they are a necessary part of a good coilover system, and 2) the KYB AGXs I use will not interface with the stock top mounts and why supply an alternate fixed mount when it'd might as well be adjustable for camber.

The second generation design responds effectively to everything that could or should be changed from the original design. The performance capabilities are improved, as well as their being much more "streetable". The pings, pops and rattling inherent in the far simpler gen1 racing design are basically gone, due to the inclusion of Thorsten bearings in the front, unloading the weight off the monoballs (now Teflon lined), constant upwards and downwards pressure from the new take-up springs, and a complete redesign of the rear top mounts. The potential for breakage of the rear strut rod, where the threaded portion is attached, is effectively eliminated because the strut rod is now mounted to a rotating monoball instead of the fixed-position stock upper mount (if the car was lowered too much with the previous design, that fixed upper mount would not allow for the increased angle and would basically snap the threaded portion of the rod off sideways -- it now pivots with the monoball).

Raising the top mounts by over an inch in the front and rear is a tremendous advantage. It absolutely eliminates the possibility of bottoming out the struts -- its now physically impossible, even at full coil bind. It also provides more effective strut travel at a lower ride height, and better centers the travel of the piston in the strut body so that its not just using the bottom range because of lowering. I could go on, but not here...

Right now, the only issue regarding fitment to the gen5s is checking the bolt alignment on the front mount. They either fit, or we slightly alter the jig and make a gen5 version. I don't expect this to be an issue because the gen1 coilovers have already been fitted to a gen5. But because the solution (if one is needed at all) is undetermined, its too early to say these are ready for the gen5. Whatever's involved, it won't take much to resolve, we just have to get a car in to check it (phoenix area) and I expect to accomplish that over the next few days. [If this question and the immediate availability of a gen5 verson is not resolved during the term of this pre-sale, I'll be pleased to offer a seperate introductory sale later for the gen5.]

That's it, hope everyone enjoys this new system as much as I do, it really makes daily driving a pleasure. Barry Chafin's got the new design on his car -- as the upgrade kit -- and he's racing Solo 2 today, so we'll see how he does.

Please do not hesitate to contact me privately with any questions you may have, I will probably respond more quickly to direct email. For the time being, the discount will be limited to these first 10 full, and 5 upgrade sets, so if you want to save a couple hundred bucks, here's your best opportunity. Call as early in the week as possible (800.795.1513, 8-5 MST, M-F). [Counter to our regular policy, because this is essentially a group deal, credit cards will be charged at the time of order, rather than the time of shipment.]

Oh yes, the picture is of a prototype, the production version will have a black anodized finish (and it says "Cattman").
