o **** gas fumes in garage
My best guess is that the fuel pressure regulator is begining to fail and its leaking out fumes??? This is my first time noticing the smell gas. i drove the car from school and back and about 20-30 min later the entire garage reeks of gasoline. My car only has 55k on it, but the fuel filter has never been changed (not 60k yet). I always use premium in my baby. Im going to the $tealership for new keys and was wondering if its easy to diagnose the fuel fumes, loss of pressure or whatever. How much does a fuel pressure regulator cost + install. Am i overlooking somthing else?? thanks and pls reply im leaving in a hour or two. On another note my car starts like a champ evrey time, so im still baffled.

Same thing happened to me, no CELs, checked everything. We never found a leak, even changed some misc. hoses. Emisssions stuff seems to be okay. Sometimes it dosent smell, other times its awful, and sometimes it even smells while driving w/ AC or Heat on.
If you figure it out, please please post it here!

Are you absolutely sure that it is your car that smells? If you have a water heater that is powered by natural gas or propane, then that might be the problem...When you are low on gas, then you will smell it first around your water heater. But if you use electric, then don't worry about it.

Well i went to the $tealership and there taking a look at it while making new keys for the car. they also cant remove the connector from the snorkel, so i guess im stuck with it on They service manager also told me that there is no way to remove the snorkel without setting of the cel, but its not like the snorkel is coming off anyways...
But back on topic my cel is not on. And my car smells like serious **** when it starts up cold. I have not done any mods to the exhaust (still has cats) and the car passes emisions.

for me it was two things , first the fuel hoses on the fuel rail just behind the timing cover where the sections join and the fuel filter itself leaked ( old ). replace hose & the filter and it stopped the smell. i found the leaks first start up of the morning, after running for awhile they dried up and only left the smell. so catch it early.

I have a similar problem after I replaced one of my fuel injectors. It was the hose that connects the front and rear injector rail. I probably knocked it loose when I was installing the new injector. The funny thing is it started to leak gas 2 weeks after I done the work. My advise is to follow your nose to narrow down the area of the leak. If you can smell very strong gasoline there will be at least a small pool of fuel.

Sounds like a leak somewhere.
