tranny pan bit the dust on a median (pan question)

Last night this median jumped out at me as i was making a turn. long story short, i've got a slightly bent rim, hole in my pan, and scraped up oil pan.
tomorrow i'm going to pick up a new transmission pan from the dealer ship for an amazingly fair price of 3X bucks. I took off my old pan and noticed that the magnets have those tiny metal shavings i've been hearing about, what does this mean? my transmission doesnt feel like it slips or hesistates too bad but sometimes i think maybe its shifting a little harder than it should or the shifts are a little delayed.
over all i think the transmission is fine but tell me what exactly im lookin at here please.

also, im about to do a transmission flush and following jimes how-to and i was wondering...since all my fluid is basically drained out already how do i go about doing the flush. im scared to start the car.
