New engine time?

My car started eating alot of oil lately. I checked my oil after about 1500 miles past an oil change and it didn't read anything on the dipstick! I put two quarts of oil in it and it still didn't read anything. I guess I've been driving the thing with very little oil. I hadn't noticed any thing leaking or smoking until yesterday. I had my wife start it back up after two days of sitting and it blew a big puff of blue smoke out for about 10 seconds. Then exhaust was clear. Can the motor really leak that much without causing much smoke? The car has 190K miles on it. I have another engine for it that has 60k miles on it, but I was thinking about selling it and putting in a VQ30-dek. How easy is it to just swap out the engine I have? How easy is it to do a VQ30-dek? I'm not a mechanic but feel that I am mechanically inclined somewhat. I do all my own repairs with the exception of internal engine work. Thanks for any responses.

all i can say is that blue smoke means that your burning oil somewhere. which is not good. the problem may or may not be from the actual engine. you may have a leak somewhere in your lines. i would take it into a mechanic for some professional advice, that or take it to someone you trust that has some knowledge in this field.

Change your PCV valve. If it's stuck you'll build up excessive crank case pressure and push engine oil out. Your problem could be a $7 fix, if your lucky.
