I noticed some uneven wear on my tire (cupping on the outside edge) and decided to investigate. I had recently bought and installed ball joints from Ebay. I think they have been on my car for about 4 months. To my surprise this is what I found.

Just a warning to all those thinking about buying them.

You may be thinking of TRW. I know that was the kind of balljoint I used.

Damn, I just got my LCA's & endlinks installed. It's from an eBay shop but I picked up locally just outsite Toronto & the guy gave me a 1yr warranty.
FYI my mechanic had replaced just the balljoints a couple of years ago with MOOG, one started squeaking & the other was loose. So it's hard to predict with aftermarket stuff. I guess it may be worth it to get ripped off by the dealer for certain parts.

Fingers crossed here.

The side I replaced was VERY loose. $175 for a control arm from the dealer Now I need to save up for the other side.

At the least report it to them, sometimes vendors actually care about what they sell.....I said sometimes......

Looking at the pics, I just see a torn boot. I'll have to take your word on the amount of play.

Could it be that the boot was torn, and then contamination (dirt) ruined the tightness of the joint?

Correct, Advance Auto carries TRW brand tie rod ends (and alot of other control/suspension/front end parts from them).

how did the car feel on that side (when driving over bumps)? I am getting excessive up and down movement on the driver side of my car and I am thinking it may be the ball joint but I am also getting a squeeking noise as well.

The name of the seller is world suspension and this is what they say about the part "These units are NEW High quality "OEBrand" aftermarket replacement, 1 year warranty". I couldnt get a hold of them when i tried to get them replaced so i just gave up.

I cant find anyone from ebay with the name world suspension, i even tried to look for name changes from current sellers... do you have a link to your sale?
I'm curious b/c I'm gonna do something about this... I'm sick and tired of sellers ripping buyers off. I just bought my lower control arms from best suspension. And if i have this problem... they're gonna have a bigger problem if they don't cooperate.

AHH, same f@#%ing problem. I bought lower control arms and outer tie rods from the same ebay seller (world suspension) and they look exactly like Flava_24/7's pics. I put them on 5 months ago. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Now I have to go through this all over again and add on wheel bearings to the mix.

So...should I not buy my inner and outer tie rods from Ebay then? I mean...they are like 40 bucks apiece at Advanced Auto and either way I have to order....I figured 22 bucks for each set was a pretty good deal seeing as it's not that big of a part. What do you guys think? Just pay up at a reputable store like Autozone, Advanced, or Peps? or just go with Ebay?

And M_oz. 555...you're car is HOT. Maybe I'll see it driving around when I go to a conference this upcoming weekend on Williams Road in Buffalo. Later.
