This kid i work with got a 89 240SX 5-spd about a month ago and we have been talking about racing for a while. Well Saturday was his last day till September so we went and did it. We got out of work at like 12:15 A.M. and went up the road to this highway, it was two lanes each way, tree divided, flat, straight and smooth. We made one pass to check for cops, took the turn around went back and lined up. One, two, three and we were off. It happened exactly as i thought it would, being he was RWD and 5-spd he jumped me 1/2 car out of the hole and i pulled that back through first, i pulled another 1/2 car on his shift and he got nothing on mine. He stayed within a car or two until 60 then i started walking him, when I WAS at 90 he started flashing his high's letting me know i had toasted him by like 6-8 lenghts and it was over. We talked about it after and he said he hit all his shifts and everything, i just spanked him. Can't wait for my nos to be in.

 

240s are usually pretty damn slow.. well mostly cuza my experiences involve lil college girls in their 240 autos =) with all of 150hp haha... I dont know too much about 240s, i only know bout the SR20DETs running around... they ARE fast haha my friend has one and he says his engin can hang 450 easy... i dont know bout the reliability on that, but even with 280hp, he smokes Impreza Turbos ... (not the 280+ ones, but the 227hp ones) and says he can hang with a STi
well job well done =) 89's with 5spds arent bad at all

 

5spd 240SX 1/4's = 15.9 seconds (motor trend) about the same as a STOCK auto max, good to know my mods have got me somewhere.

 

there isnt anything special about 240sx's.. i remember my friend from school always talking about how fast his 95 240sx with i/h was. here is one of his stories...

"ok, i lined up with my friends bone stockk supra tt and another friends s2000. we wated for the light to turn green and right when it did, we took off, i stayed behind the supra by less then a carlength all the way up to 100mph and the s2000 was way behind us.."

i know the guy with the supra tt and the s2000, they know how to drive there cars.. i just nodded to my friend and said good job, wanna race? he's like "if you take two of your sparkplugs out, it just wouldnt be fair".. i was like are you scared of a family sedan and laughed, smoke him too btw

 

i agree that 240s arent anything special... but they are ok i guess... caompared to auto maxs... I was thinkin bout buying a '97 and then dropping the SR20DET in... that is special =) i like 240s cuz they are one of the few Japanese RWD "sports cars" around... for major speeds, i know many would argue with me but i just dont see a replacement for RWD or AWD
