jack and jackstands

Ok, never trust a jack right? So I figure that I would just jack the car up a few inches away from the jack point in order to use jackstands on the jacking point. Well, it turned out that the car was only reinforced for the about 2inches around the jacking point. Therefore, my tab at the bottom folded in.

So here's my question, now what? I can't use jackstands if I use a jack at the right place, if I don't then I break my car.

i think he's using the emergency jack, not an actual hydralic jack...

my advice, invest in a real jack. then you should have no problem.

Jacking 101:

DO Jack on hardspots, ie. Frame pieces or large bolts holding frame pieces on.

DONT jack on random spots like thinner metal parts more prone and delicate due to rust ie. right under your floor boards.

Personally, I don't really use jackstands unless I'm going UNDER the car.....
